Yeah, it was really coming down. The problem at my house... no matter how much I try to do about it... is that my rain gutters collect mucho roof debris and get blocked up almost instantly. Then they overflow on any good rain storm and the water goes right down into the basement with my 99.9% clay soil. My yard drainage system is useless against this "gutter overflow" water.

Yesterday, exasperated over the prospect of yet another basement flood, I laid out two large tarps over angled 4x8 sheets of plywood at the most critical overflow points. Obviously, it helped a lot.
