Question Craftsman II GT 18 HP lawn tractor deck lift lever

    Hey guys,

Simple and probably silly issue but the button on top on the deck lift lever was quite stiff and a bit of a brute to push in.

Squirted some lubricant down around the button so would lube the shaft and now the lever will not stay in the up position ( holding the deck up ).

Appears the small lever at end does not extend sufficiently into the slot to hold and simply slides out.

Was tempted to remove lever ( took bolt out ) but lever seemed to be a press fit on there also.

Any ideas on how to remedy ?

    Thanks

    Tom

No magic fix or suggestion other than possibly removing the deck to get a good look of what is bent, broken and needs replacement.

Most of these mechanical lifts are spring loaded, and spraying lube shouldnt make the who assembly fall out.....its likely you can get the internal parts replaced.....model number of Craftsman mower and approx year will help...

Sorry I can't be of any help to you here Tom... but my own Craftsman lawn tractor has no such button on top on the deck lift lever. It's a whole different arrangement.

I know of the design you are talking about, but I haven't got a clue in Hell how to fix it.
