I think it's hard to say where all of this is going to end. Even before the acquisitions/partnerships/consolidations et al, things can't have been very great in this economy for the "Other Brands" tractor brands.Lately in "Other Brands", it seems you can't know the players... and who makes/markets/warranties/services what... without a very complex scorecard.
Anyone seriously interested in a particular Montana tractor should investigate who really made it (including who made the diesel engine) and who is going to service it long-term.
As the satisfied owner of a TYM-made Mahindra, I am probably the kind of guy that Montana would like to attract. Some of the Montanas are made by TYM and with Mahindra eventually dropping its TYM-made models, Montana and its dealers might be a logical place to turn for a product I've come to know and trust. On the other hand, I have no experience with whatever loader and backhoe Montana uses. Also, TYM itself appears to be back to pursuing a China manufacturing strategy... which turns me off bigtime.
The bottom line: You pays your money and you takes your chances... so find out as much as humanly possible about any specific "Other Brands" machine that you may be interested in buying.
