Markham Welding - Tooth Bar
The Gunmaker is right. Markham is still the "class act" and most popular toothbar around for tractor buckets and they are not overly expensive either. Very pleasant and easy folks to work with and special requests (like an extra tooth or different type teeth) are readily handled. Shipping was quite competitive as well as they ship out a LOT of hardware. I only ever heard of one complaint (a case of seriously crooked teeth) and it was reportedly handled quickly and professionally. Not so on eBay where folks have complained about "less beef" and a general lack of quality.

I have found ATI corporation to also offer nice stuff as well as toothbars - and currently having one for my L39, and offering really the only one that would fit over the removable cutting edge of the L39 72" HD bucket

It appears that Markham has been running into some unusual problems lately. From that other website:

So i thought i would explain a few things here instead of having everyone calling and me repeating the same response. We average orders of 25 or more tooth bars to build at a time. Sometimes more sometimes less. We specialize in Skid steer attachments, Rakes, buckets, hitches, tree booms, grubbers, etc. & tooth bars. When we started Markham in 2002 we never dreamed that our bars would become so popular, for this we thank you guys again. We order teeth on a blanket once a year, we base those orders on what we sold in that month the year before and usually order a little more then that, but not too many, because we are a small family owned business that refuses to go out on a limb too far for fear of breaking the limb and or a leg or two. We build and ship the bars in the order in which they come in, and can only ship 5 a day through UPS because of the damage these bad boys can cause other freight and not to mention their weight. But on occasion we do have to put tooth bars on hold for different reasons, one we have to fill the orders of the bigger attachments, two- we run out of teeth- three we run out of cutting edge- four- we run out of time. I know you guys have been very patient with us and the problems we have faced this summer, and believe me it has been horrible, steel prices for one- they tried to go up 150.00 a stick on the cutting edge, which would mean tooth bars would also have to go up, almost double to justify even building them. Then we changed the teeth, because we had such a demand for a casted tooth, and that took time, then in between all the pricing drama and changes we would run out of something, then where the steel had gone up, bigger companies had went on a buying frenzy at the old prices which left the small business owners kinda winging it til more could be produced. To make a long story longer I promise tooth bar teeth are now in stock, cutting edge is now in stock, we are building them up and shipping them back out starting Friday. I have had a couple people cancel their orders and this is fine we understand. This is the main reason why we do not run the cards until we are sure we won't run out of anything and will be able to ship. But in our defense a lot of the hold ups have been me fighting with steel companies and freight so that you wouldn't have to pay more either in fuel surcharges or steel increases. It is also more important for you to understand we are not ignoring you or your calls, we have windstream which is based in India i think, at least that is who answers the phone when we report a problem. It's crazy. Sometimes I run the burning machine or help Allen in the shop and rely on the message center to give messages, another mistake i seem to have made lately.
Still a good product and probably worth the extra wait IMHO.

Oh, not true Kenny. I just don't post publicly there anymore (other than one exception I made recently in tribute to my deceased friend Mr Jimi). Like it or not, that other site will probably always be the "motherload" of technical info relating to our tractors. The archives contain a wealth of information. I just couldn't stand the overcrowding, nastiness, serial complainers and childish bickering anymore.

I still post there occaisonally, but don't respond to anyone who argues with whatever point I was trying to make. No need to

Too many repetitive arguments over there. And a lot of guesses and just plain bad info too. I find that most of the newby questions over there could be answered if they would simply RTFM or even by downloading and reading the admin's book. And all the misinformation is not from new posters, either. I've learned a lot there, and continue to, so I will keep reading. But I have noticed that a lot of long-time posters (and a lot of the good reads) have not posted in several months.

Rant off.

Fred

I might have to go that route also Duc. I have an ATI Tach-All quick attach, with a ATI HD bucket (66"). Will soon be buying a cutting edge from them for it. Seeing how much I liked the toothbar on my other tractor, I've been planning a purchase of another one, it'd be nice if it fit properly.

Also got my grapple (OBG 64")from W.R.Long, no sign of buyers remorse yet. One recurring mantra from the other site " smaller and lighter is better" I'm not buying that. I need it to cover my tracks, using it as a multi-purpose attachment, including root rake, and some soil prepping, along with brush and rock moving. If I find it's too heavy, I'll cut some weight off.

.... Tim
