Red face 3 pt log splitter - this brand any good?

Im looking for a inexpensive solution - is this a Chinese nightmare or actually a good unit?

If Im using my Power beyond on my Deere, looking at the manual I see the 2 ports to connect to in the manual from my Power Beyond Quick connects - I cant tell how long the hoses ned to be and it dosent look like they supply them

Powerhorse Horizontal Log Splitter — 3 Point | Log Splitters | Northern Tool + Equipment

Its both Cheap and portable....but I dont like Cheaply made products

thoughts anyone?

LOL I just noticed that it comes unassembled - yeah right like I have the time or patience for this

Default You'll be happier with one of these

300 Series Woodsplitters

And if you don't want to tie up your tractor...
500 Series Woodsplitters

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

I would get the Speedco unit from TSC if you can. Gunmaker has one and can tell you how it works and how long the hoses need to be.

Oooopps...forgot about the pics! Anyway, the Speeco logsplitter works great! The only thing I've found frustrating is that it does not mate with the I-match, but I can change that in the future. It handles 24" long logs with no problem, and I've split logs 24"+ in diameter. The 2520's hydraulics have more than enough power to go through anything I've thrown at it, even at lower rpms. I usually set the idle at approx 1500rpm, and get to work. The cycle time is just a tad on the slow side because the 2520's pump only puts out +/- 5 gal/min, but not a problem. I had 6 ft - 1/2 inch hoses made up for it at Napa. The extra length allows not only the horizontal/vertical use of the splitter, but I can pull up along side the splitter, disconnect the bh connectors and plug in the splitter without taking the bh off. I think you would be satisfied with it, and the price was reasonable -$650 at the time. Here's a link at TSC for you: Tractor Supply Company - SpeeCo Logsplitter 3 Point Complete

Hi, Duc, Dougster had the rare opportunity a year or so ago to assemble and operate one of the Chinese chippers. He had a voluminous thread on it over at TBN; you mught want to take a look at that. Hopefully he will chime in with a synopsis of his experience. Recommended reading before purchase.

Good luck in your chipper search.

Fred

Im passing on the chinese offering - because it requires assembly - not happening here :0

Speeco or Wallenstein could be the viable options....or a standalone unit with a gas motor
