Default Just scored a used Chain harrow!

    i found a Chain/Drag Harrow on Craiglist. a 6' x 6' with draw bar.

    drum roll..........
for $40 dollars. Yes, F_O_T_A_Y dollas!

I have to untangle it and lay it out on the ground to see if it's 100%.
Oh, and get a tow chain for the draw bar (it's missing).

Can you believe for $40 it didn't have the tow chain!! dispicable!

At this very moment, i am doing the happy dance.

PS: I promise, i wasn't armed during this robbery.

    Sounds like a great deal!!!

Post pics when you get the chance...... I've been lookin' for several things on Craigslist, and can't find nothing close to home.

I agree with you, if i had seen one for less than $200, anytime, in the past several years i would have snagged it.

So just be diligent and keep watching. Chain harrows must be one of those things people buy and just keep forever.
You don't see them being sold used as often as one would think.

Story was, seller moved to larger property for his horses. Had all his own equipment including a nice drag harrow. He found this one in the weeds,
as he was planning to mow the scrub and undergrowth back to reclaim some more space.
Since he already had his own, and wanted this "outta there" he just posted a super low price to assure it would be gone before he needed to mow.

I was just plain lucky to be the first to Email him, that's all.
Let's face it, he was giving it away!

yes, Pics will follow, hopefully today. Right now its just a rolled up jumble of cluster-stuff. Going out there soon to untangle and hose it off.

    OK here is a pic:
    ->SkunkWerx Chain Harrow<-

It has a band on it with a model number, found it on this website:
    Harrow Rake Dethatcher

It's the H6x8. It's 6 feet wide 8 feet long. Included in the total 8 feet is the additional section, so it can be flipped around, or upside down, allowing for the front to be dragged in aggressive mode and the back section in less aggressive, or even have the back section so the tines are pointing up, so the front is digging and cutting, and the back section is smoothing.

Repairs: After untangling everything, It looked like someone had snagged the back corner and it was missing 2 connecting hooks and a "spreader" piece, just a piece that maintains the diamond pattern.

Went out and got a 7/16" piece of solid round rod (it's not carbon steel, but what the heck?)

Used my cheapo *Cheapo HF Metal Bender* to bend up some new pieces.
The bender will take up to 5/8" solid rod, so the 7/16" wasn't too bad to muscle some curved bends into the rod.

Still need to get a piece of chain for the tow loops on the tubular draw bar.

Even with the repairs, still a steal at $40!

Add another project to the list [sigh] i think I'll be making a 3-point harrow frame/lift. With the driveway and sidewalks to cross, it would help.

here are a few ideas I got from doing a search:
    3 point Chain harrow frame
    3 point frame 1
    3 point frame 2
    3 point frame 3
