Good points Paul - have they been making snow at all? you near Killington, Stratton or Stowe? sounds like you could teach my youngsters I tend to ski in NH, when I do ski these last 10 years...

    Hey Will,

South of Hamilton close to Lake Erie.

We really don't have much of anything in the way of snow and have't had to plow or even start the tractor ( except to run it ).

Even Hamilton has little to no snow and my daughter's better half is complaining constantly as he hasn't even had to put the plow on his truck to service the plowing contracts he has.

Been cold with little blowing snow but that is about it and +5c called for on weekend.

I wouldn't mind some snow at this point just for the grandkids.

later and have a good one.

    Tom

I used to teach at Stowe...what finally burned me out was being assigned to teaching Adaptive lessons, because you were assigned for the entire weekend or the ENTIRE WEEK if it was Christmas, New Year's or school vacation weeks......(Note to self: Do NOT re-certify as an Adaptive instructor, or make sure there are enough Adaptive Instructors to spread the workload)
The other thing is your skis take a beating teaching those lessons, because the tops become BRAKES that you use to help stop a beginners...oh yeah, that reminds me I forgot to identify that pair of skis in my inventory......as well, as my K2 5500s (208 Western Cruisers...)

Teaching kids can be great or a disaster...
Took most of my PSIA kids clinics at Stratton
Group lessons with ankle biters during the BIG WEEKS(XMAS,NY and SB) are very stressful because you are always having to keep track of your 8 to 12 kids while you are trying to teach them to ski...even pickup time can be stressful, because when the parents come to pick them up...NO TICKEE...NO KID...due to child custody battles that can even occur at a ski hill...(but that is a story for another time...)
I taught my son to ski and he was a top rated racer in PA when we were in the DC area...when we moved to VT, he became an instructor in both skiing and snowboarding...

Where do you frequent in NH?...have taken clinics at Loon, Mount Sunapee, Waterville, Cannon, and Wildcat. Free skied with the family at Attitash, Bretton Woods, Cranmore(so my son could ride the skimobile, but it had stopped running in 1988 but the structure was still there for him to see), Loon(where he rode the steam engine back and forth more times than I care to remember...), Waterville, and Whaleback.

Very cool indeed Paul....Im very familiar with that area...I learned to ski on a small mole hill of a mountain called Maple valley, down the road from Bromley (when we got better), and had a ski lodge (parents) about 2 miles away from Bromley.....we used to go to Okemo and Stratton a lot as well....killington and stowe on rare occasions. Season tickets were affordable then, and it was a blast...I found vermont got too commercialized for my taste...so NH mountains are where I go to now mostly....Cannon, Loon, to name a few

If you and family need a spot to stay, its perfectly situated near Cannon and Loon...PM me and I will give you more specific details..

Overall I had two sleds that I used to leave up in woodstock NH (near Lincoln)....two arctic cats, both fuel injected rockets.....I used to ride my bikes hard through the kangamangus highway and mountains, as well as laconia track.....the Thornton police always tried to road block me, but to no avail ...state police almost got me.....I talk my way out of it a few times....

I do plan to get up there soon, likely mid January and get some skiing and snowmobiling done...and get the kiddies exposed to it a little bit....

Unfortunately...have in-law parent medical problems at the moment...both are trying to circle the drain......and have one of my old Percherons getting up in the years(22), as well, so I have a bad feeling, we will be busy this winter...

Yeah...that is "the pair" that gets "destroyed" by teaching skiing...either you have beginners snowplowing to a stop on them, or you are providing a stable base for them to get back up from a fall, et cetera, et cetera...the bottom line is the topside graphics are NEVER the same......and the bases take a beating during the "end of season"(better known as SPRING CONDITIONS...) lessons where you can find DIRT, ROCKS, so on and so forth on EVERY TURN...
