Looks great!![]()
I've been wanting a front bumper on my new mower for a while..... Me & my wife came out of Lowe's one day, and I stopped and looked at the front bumpers on some of the mowers.
My wife ask if I was going back in to buy one..... No Thanks!!!.... I'll just make my own when I get time!

I finally had time today!.... I made it from scrap metal I had laying around.
I don't have a ''pipe bender''..... I took the pipe over to my trailer, and put the pipe in the ''stake pocket'', and then used a ''cheater pipe'' to bend it!
The first piece was easy, but trying to match the second pipe was a little hard, but I got them to match.
It's very strong and should protect the front end!..... I started to build a guard like the one on my tractor, but I would have to pull out a pin to lower it so I could raise the hood.

Now you can attach a winch to your bumper and next trip up the hill with a full cart, pull the cable out and secure the end to a stout tree.. you'll need a remote control for it, but the tractor won't slip back down the hill.
Whatcha think.. too safe? MMmmm, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea, especially if the hill really is steep..![]()
Yeah, I had some thoughts in mind to rig up something fancier on mine but the hood tilting forward makes for a bit of a pain on any front end modifications. At one point I was thinking of soldering together some copper pipe since I do not have a welder. But I ended up just buying JD bumper.
You can see part of it here:
I took the photo after I installed a small elbow to deflect the exhaust away from the front tire. I cut the deflector from a section of stainless sink drain pipe and fastened it with a hose clamp.
Also have thought about plumbing the exhaust into the bumper, turning the angled ends of the bumper upward and adding a chrome stack on each side.![]()

NO Way!!!
I have a winch on my ATV, but I don't need it when pulling a load up the hill.... I even quit using the ATV.... I ''only'' use the tractor now!
I even quit using that stupid JD utility cart to haul dirt.... The wife uses it to haul flowers to plant, vegetables from the garden, apples etc.. etc..
.
You need a welder!
You could come off the ''elbow'' that you put in with a straight piece of pipe.... Then ''cut your bumper'' and put a ''Tee'' in it.
On each end of your bumper, You could put a ''elbow''.... Then just put straight pipe up, and put a ''flapper'' on each side.
