    It's amazing what you can get today for short money compared to just a couple years (months? weeks?) ago.

    If I were to repair or upgrade a non-SATA machine, is it worthwhile to throw in a SATA controller card for $20 and switchover to a SATA hard drive?

    It comes down to a simple math equation - I dont know what the actual cost are but I would guess going the SATA route is cost effective

    Actually, the more I think about this, it might not be such a great idea. I believe that SATA requires a SATA-capable power supply as well as a SATA controller. That starts getting expensive.

    Looks like I better stay put in the PATA world for now.
