Default My 1961 IH Cub Cadet "Original"

How's it goin' guys

Here's my OL' Girl, it's a 1961 IH Cub Cadet "Original". It took me about 4 years to restore her. Enjoy!!!!. By the way, I have some pics of her pulling a KingKutter disc harrow that I bought for her. I'll be posting those soon.

Hey Cub,

Very nice restoration indeed,

I'm a great admirer of anyone that brings back to life, the old iron that in many cases end up recycled or as land fill. You've saved a piece of history and it will live to see future generations. Nice job and great pictures (and cool chrome stack ). Thanks for sharing......

Mark

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate it. Well, hopefully the next project is to repaint the cub one more time but in a different shade of yellow. I found this nice yellow color, it's called Lemon Ice Yellow.I like to think of it as a new version of the old cub cadet yellow. So hopefully next time I'll be posting pics of the 61 Cub in that color. I honestly can't wait to see what it will look like. And after that is done, I would like to restore another IH cub cadet, problem is just finding another one to restore.

Very cool. I like the Ag tires. They make it look bigger somehow.

Cub61,

What kind of paint did you use, and did you spray it with a gun and compressed air?

How's it goin' guys

Well thank you again for the compliments, it means a lot. To begin with, the rear tires are 26x12x12 Firestone Flotation 23 G-1 4-ply tires. The tires are installed on 12x8.50 rims with the wheel centers placed on the heavy-offset side. The cub is painted with Krylon Spray Can Paint and it took about 6 to 8 cans of spray paint to complete the job. The color of the paint is called "Old Equipment Yellow". The hood and Grill are painted with Dupli-Color High Heat Engine Paint with Ceramic and the color is called "High Heat White". And the hood took 4 cans to complete and the grill took 2 cans. It was sort of difficult to make the engine paint have a shiny gloss finish, but after trial and error we got it to shine.
