    Default Sc2400 Front Weight Bracket...

So, awhile ago, I asked this question and no one seemed to know. So, I thought I'd share what I found out.

For those who might want to add weight to the from of their Sc2400, a weight bracket is available from Cub Cadet. It holds 5 (not 3 and not 4 like others said) weights for a total of around 210 lbs (5 x 42lbs).

Now, for the fun part... This weight bracket DOES NOT work if you have a FEL. The curl cylinder will hit it and there is no way you can have both the bracket and the front end loader on at the same time. To me, this seems like a big design flaw.

I know others will say, "you don't need weight if you have the FEL". And, yeah, that's correct... but, there are times when the extra length of the bucket is a pain and just having the weight would be nice. For example, I wanted to bush hog around my property and I pretty much live in a woods. With all the trees, navigating with the FEL is a real pain. But, having the weight to counter balance the bush hog would be nice.

So, moral of the story is... Weight bracket and FEL are not compatable and the bracket holds 5 weights.

I called my guy last night and am in the process of trying to get my money back for the bracket and 4 weights he got for me. I'm sure that'll probably be like pissin in the wind, but it's worth a try.

How hard is the weight bracket to install?
Front loader off weight bracket on then reverse.
You can also see how much weight you can pick up by fluid loading your front tires.
It is logical the perceved problem.
The front axle has a load rating.

Hey Now, me thinks I said specifically up to 5 weights...so I win something right? Since speaking from direct experience of owning (more than one as well) a Yanmar built machine from Deere (2520), there are many similarities between these models. Of course I dont speak alone either because we have many Deere compact owners on board, whose compact tractor is built by yanmar. My 2520 is a larger frame machine than the 2400 Yanmar/cub but there are many similarites. One being I cant have both my weights and FEL in place at the same time either, it interferes with the FEL stand....I wouldnt want to or need to...The FEL by itself and weighs over 800 lbs empty....For Brush hogging, I just loose the bucket and I gain manueverability and can navigate tight areas...do it all the time...

Thanks for the feedback BTW....it will help those in the configuration process

Underdog, I know what you're saying. I never planned on having weight on the front along with the FEL. I just didn't want to have to take the weight bracket on and off each time I wanted to use it. The bracket is held in place with 4 bolts.

I actually took some time last night and started thinking of ways to make this bracket work. The bracket kinda looks like this from the top :

    ---------------------
    | | | |
    | | | |
    ---------------------

So, each outside pocket holds one weight and three fit in the center. Since I have 4 weights, I'm thinking I might be able to just cut the bracket in the center and bend the front around the weights with a torch... So, there will be room in the center for the curl cylider to move and the bracket can still hold four weights... so, something like this:

    ---------------------
    | | | |
    | | | | | |
    --------- ---------

Pardon my crappy ascii art... hopefully you see what I'm talking about.

NOT the 55 series...weight bracket without weights does NOT interfere with the FEL on my 855...

Yeah, I'm at work right now... and, my ascii art didn't come out the same as what it was in the edit box... so, yeah, it's pretty much worthless.

    Ducati996, If you said 5, sorry. I didn't recall.

I'll say this though. While they might both be made by yanmar, my wifes uncles 2305 and my 2400 aren't really the same tractor. It's like saying a 1996 GMC sierra is the same as a 2009 Chevy Silverado. Sure, they are similar, but they aren't the same.

Also, to just shore up what I was trying to say... I don't want to have the FEL and the weights on at the same time. I want to have the FEL and the weight BRACKET on at the same time.

Well, I finally got a picture. I've been super busy at work. Anyway, the picture should speak for itself.

It would probably be best if you could take a picture with it mounted on the tractor.

It's hard to tell what you need to do!
