Default Need "expert" opinions on this one........

Hey folks, a friend of mine called me a little bit ago with a unique problem that possibly some folks on here might be able to answer. Earlier today, as he was fueling his brand new SC2400 (which he got a few weeks ago because he liked mine so much) the flexible plastic nozzel on the end of the fuel can popped off and fell into the tank. He said he looked for it but couldn't see it so he tried to feel for it with a clothes hanger and couldn't find it that way either. I told him to call the dealer and he said he did and they told him as long as the nozzle came off of a can designated for diesel fuel, he'll be OK.

Having never heard of anything like that, what do you folks think? Is the dealer right or should my friend pump the tank and get the nozzle out asap???

    Thanks for all replies....Bill

I have heard of it many times before...Tell him not to stress, but to run it near empty and then go fishing for it with a flashlight and one of those flexible grabber thingies.

The problem has been corrected. I was over at his place this evening and he had the fuel pumped out and was using a clothes hanger but he couldn't get the spout out. Luckily I had a 4 prong flexible grabber and when he pulled the spout up again, I grabbed the end and pulled it out.

Just so you guys know, the can the spout fell off was one of those yellow plastic ones that TSC sells. He said it popped off before but it happened prior to fueling so he pushed the spout back on and hadn't had any issues with it until today.

I bought 2 of those cans last year and never had any of the spouts pop off but seeing how easily his came off, I'm going to clamp mine on and not take any chances.

I think the dealer is correct. If he still would want to get it out, he might get lucky with a set of mechanical fingers. Otherwise I doubt the nozzle is small enough to cause a blockage.

Get one of those funnels with the screen in them. You would be amazed ar all the small particles that come out of new cans. I screen all the diesel that goes in our tractor now.
    Thanks,

    Will

Are you talking the Mr funnel thingies? For some reason the last quarter inch isnt part of a filter so the fuel
Just sits there and dosent filter through these things.
