Default Field Stone Wall Project

Hi guys:
I have been keeping busy with a new project - well, two projects combined. My two friends and I planted 4 acres of sunflowers for biodiesel (coming up nicely) and while preparing the field I collected the field stones for a wall on my property. The 2520 was put to the test - hauling stones to the corner of the field - then loading a dump trailer to haul the stones down the road to my house. You can see the stones in the pictures - about 15 loads. The area where I am working was wooded when we moved in - I cleared the trees a few years ago and had it stumped by a large excavator (see 1st pic). I have added 100 yards of fill so far to bring the grade up b/c the ground would stay pretty wet especially in the spring after the snow melt. Since I don't have the luxury of a BH (yea Chris - no hoe....) I used my front loader to cut the drainage ditch along the existing yard. This will allow me to terrace the yard and step down into the new lawn area. The foundation drain had been going to air in the middle of the new lawn so I redirected it out to the woods - not quite there yet as you can see. The drainage stone under the wall will bring the water down to follow the foundation drain to the woods to cut down on frost movement. I am going to dry stack the wall so a true frost protected foundation is not necessary. The drain is wrapped in landscape fabric to keep the dirt out and then I will be adding more stone on top for the base of the wall. More pics as things progress - as long as the back holds up

Cheers,
Brad
