Thread: save

What a save A friend of mine called me up and told me about some tractors that a lady was going to scrap. so off to the house with the trailer to do some investigating. what I found was 2 Gravely 816 garden tractors. laying around was 2 mower decks 1 tiller and some extra parts. one was out in the shed the other one was under a tarp. so I got to work dragging them on the trailer finding all the parts ( I am sure there are more in the garage). I was strapping them down when the rest of the family showed up ( its an estate sale right now) and the older brother started in with how much was I paying for them. well hear we go I was not going to get in the middle of a family fight so I told him to just take them off the trailer and I will leave. well long story short I paid a very small amount to shut him up and off I went. I feel it was worth it to save them from the scrap yard. with a quick stop at the car wash on the way home unloaded and with in a few min I had one of them cranking and firing on starter fluid. more projects

I will defiantly keep the restoration posted. right now one of them is running and driving on its own. Next step is to drain all the fluids replace the filters, they didn't look that bad to just give it a simple start. It needs some more degreasing and i am good to go for fun. my guess is it will be striped down and painted next winter. this winter is finishing the basement. As for the other tractor I am looking for some parts to get it going it needs the ignition system and a starter. I will keep posting updates.
