Very informative and entertaining thread. Almost makes me want to find a bee nest now!

I've run over a cinder block which created a ton of racket! I was mowing along rather slowly and just happened to look back as the mower ran over the top of it. Then came the horrendous racket! That was only a couple of days ago.

I've also caused a couple of snakes and moles to meet and untimely demise with my zero turn mower! Mwahahahaha!

If it's bigger and more expensive then it has to be better!

To this day my dad never lets me forget that I once rode our Snapper Comet up and on top of an old style milkhouse pump that was out back of our corncrib. WHAM! It was my first year of mowing and I forget how old I was at the time - maybe 9. In my defense, the grass/weeds behind the corncrib hadn't been mowed in about a year and were easily twice as tall as the pump, obscuring it completely behind a mess of brush.... I think

You mentioning that Snapper brings back memories of the time I barrel rolled one down a terraced section of lawn. Yeah, it went right over me and landed upright and kept on mowing...without me!

Whoa! Did you ruin a good pair of drawers!
Never thought you'd need a ROPS on a lawn tractor huh?

Yup, the Comets were a death trap on sidehills assuming you could manage to stay in the seat without just sliding off My dad always mowed the ditch by walking along the downhill side of the mower, steering with one hand and keeping the mower from sliding downhill using the other. (He has since redone the ditch so a sane person can drive it!)

I am continuing my efforts to fill/grade all those ground "anomolies" that cause that "pucker" and/or change your undies reactions. Jay

Back in 1975, my wife tod me she would mow the grass if I bought her a riding mower. Can;t beat a deal like that, right? We found a year-old Snapper 5hp 26" for a reasonable price, and bought it. First time out, she tried to climb a holly bush, and told me she would never get back on it. We kept the machine for 25 years, wore out the engine and replaced it with an 8hp I/C, and rebuilt the rear end, served us well. And she never got on it again.

Closest thing to construction equipment I ever managed to get.
