Just for clarification, I run my own business. In the summer, we mow
10's to 100's of acres a week, all of which isn't mine, usually 1/2 of which I've never done before. And if I did do it before, it was months or even a year ago the last time it was done.

That's the business, you run over stuff, you just don't know where and when. Exciting times

Excavation involves a slight variation on this theme. It's not "what have you mowed today"... it's "what in God's creation have you dug up today"??? At least you, as a mowing guy, have half a chance to actually see what might be about to cut into 10 million pieces... and there is very little chance you are going to come across the remains of Jimmy Hoffa or slice into a zillion dollar fiber optic cable!!!

It never ceases to amaze me what current or past generations have buried in their back yards.

The job is almost always part archaeological adventure!
