Default one stump gone, 5 to go

Seems a little slow at MU today, so I'll add a stump story.

I'd like to think I could easily get rid of 30 or 40 trees, roots and all, but these are big'uns, I don't have the hanging brass to dig these up with the tree attached, maybe if they were just 10 inches with plenty of room, but most of these are crowded in, and again they're huge.
The big job is, make pasture for horses, then an area for garden, I'd rather not have to work a root minefield if I get to the garden stage.
This little job is for a horse ring, as it is I have to leave one tree just outside the ring, it's massive. We're telling ourselves the shade will be good.

It took less than two hours to dig this one loose, no way my Deere 770 could'a pulled this one out, so the L35 has proved it's worth the money spent.
Before the wife and I knocked a few hundred pounds of dirt and rocks from the roots, one rear wheel came off the ground when lifting it out of the hole, after we lightened it up a bit out it came. Only 5 more stumps, til the next job.

Depending on how close is too close...if a person leaving the horse by accident can reach the tree...IT'S TOO CLOSE...

If the roots start showing up in the track, when dragging the arena...IT'S TOO CLOSE...

Plan on removing it...Gee, just look at it as MORE SEAT TIME...

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

I don't know Paul, I've got seat time planned for the next fifteen years anyway

That tree stays right where it is, just about 8-10 feet outside the round pen fence.

Might be a few roots I'll cut off, but someone would have to be flying to hit it from being bucked off inside. Sometimes you gotta take a chance.

Hey Doug,

I might be a less one tractor soon, someone put a deposit on the 770, hoe and all. If it goes through my finances will be in better shape, a good chunk of the mad money went into the L35 and a grapple (not received yet). I'm a believer in a done deal when the deal is done. Still wish I could keep it, nice little tractor. Know when to walk away, let someone else get some use from it.

I wouldn't be working it much anyway, I've got a bigger (more expensive) toy now.
