Seems like this thread has turned slightly toward illegals and how some are catered to. Guess I'll add my little story.

Sis lives in So Cal and a couple yrs ago her boy got into an auto accident. Med bills far exceeded insurance to the tune about about $200k. Poor kid hasn't a pot to pi$$ in and hospitals and Dr's are hounding him. That's OK as the bills are legit but it makes one sick to your stomach when you hear straight from the Hospital that if he was an illegal, they would have written the bill off a long time ago and wouldn't be hassling him.

Our beloved little grinning moonbat governor... termed correctly yesterday on Boston television as the "worst governor in all of Massachusetts history"... has admitted to 175,000 illegal aliens now living unfettered and tax-free in the People's Republic of Taxachusetts. The real number is at least 3-4 times that... and it is killing the honest taxpayers of this state (quite literally in too many cases). Still, he changed the law and won't allow our state cops to even inquire as to one's "immigration status" when stopped after a crime has been committed. They are routinely let go without bail with instructions to appear in court for a hearing on some future date. Of course, it never happens.

And you wonder why Massachusetts is the laughing stock of our once great nation.

I don't get why someone would want a group of people working on their land, and even in the house, that have no license, not bonded or insured. I don't like it when someone turns around in my driveway nevermind inviting them to scope out my possessions. I'm not trying to be paranoid ....but come on...very little random drive by theft happens, it's usually someone that knows what you have and where you keep it. There are plenty of ways thiefs case future jobs, why help?

This is "HOME SAFETY 101".

There have been horror stories about a small percentage of CNA's and HHA's doing similar behaviors, even to the point of stealing their client's pain medications. Jay

I'm not so sure Jay. LOTS of speculation going around that he is going to jump right away into an Obama administration or return back to the corporate ranks as a high paid fixer. He needs TONS of money to keep that high flying lifestyle to which he has become accustomed afloat!

It's kind of interesting Tim. Many of the jobs I've gotten so far have been won because I was legitimate, established, licensed, insured, paid taxes, gave real receipts, spoke and wrote English, etc... so much so that I altered my marketing to stress the security and privacy aspect of my business. A few of my clients last year had employed illegals before me and had been robbed or had their identity stolen in the days and weeks following the work. Identity theft in particular was crazy rampant around here for a while before a series of newspaper articles and a police campaign brought it down.

But low price talks and plenty of people (a majority, really) are willing to take the risk for the sake of saving up to 70% on their yard improvement projects. And I can't really blame them. It can be a ton of money.

Being the overly honest guy that I am, I will always tell a potential client when I know for a fact that the illegals can do his or her particular job for a lot less money. I am only stating the obvious anyway... so why pretend otherwise? Sometimes my blunt honesty has a reverse effect and I get the job despite a higher cost... but mostly the illegals will win the day.
