Points: 0 | Land Leveling Suggestions I am a failry new tractor operator (1.5 yrs.) I currently am planning on box blading and raking about 2 acres of my property to level it off and rip out the old cow pasture I have been mowing and replace w/ sod/grass. Some of these areas are on slopes which I at times feel a bit uneasy on. I was contimplating taking off the loader to do this work for more stability on the slopey areas. My question is do you feel taking off the loader and adding the box blade (roughly 400 lbs) w/ loaded R4's on my Kubota 2620 will then make this to back heavy to handle this work on the slopy areas?
Thanks!!!! | Kubota 2620, loaded R4's, FEL, FROPS, 4FT Bush Hog box blade, 5ft Bush Hog landscape rake, Toro TimeCutter Z ZTR 5060 w/ 50" deck

Thanks!!!! | For work like this, I feel the FEL adds stability and adds to the front end traction (when in 4wd) | Kubota L39 w/WR long RGB Grapple, Bradco Pallet forks, BH QA buckets, and more! Points: 0 | Do you recomend I work on these slopes in 4wd at all times regardless of the type of work I am doing? Also do you feel this provides more stability on slopes? Points: 0 | Depending on how much earth you want moved...you maybe better served having someone come in with a CAT and bulldoze the slope to a proper grade in less than a week...
Be aware than when operating in 4 wheel drive across slopes...a rapid turning uphill can roll you over...
This is found in all JD manuals of tractors equiped with MFWD...
CAUTION: Avoid injury! Use extra caution when driving on slopes. To increase traction and provide four-wheel braking, engage mechanical front wheel drive (MFWD) when driving on slopes. Be aware that MFWD can improve access to dangerously sloped terrain, thereby increasing the possibility of tipover. (I would swear that this was written by a non-English writer... ) | Paul in VT
I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

Points: 0 | How about 4wd when operating up and down on slopes? I dont want to run sideways as I wouldnt feel comfortable. Will the 4wd give me b etter stability? Thanks again | Kubota 2620, loaded R4's, FEL, FROPS, 4FT Bush Hog box blade, 5ft Bush Hog landscape rake, Toro TimeCutter Z ZTR 5060 w/ 50" deck

Thanks !!! | I really believe its does - when 4wd is engaged you also now have braking in all wheels - especially going down a slope, its better than just having the rears, and it they lock up and slip -not ideal. | Kubota L39 w/WR long RGB Grapple, Bradco Pallet forks, BH QA buckets, and more! Points: 0 | I agree with all the suggestions/observations so far. I would also recommend that you keep your FEL as low as possible for stability. | NH TC29DA with 14LA FEL with 60" HD QA bucket, cutting edge & toothbar, weighted R-1's, FOPS, CCM M-160 58" tiller, Tebben MD 60" Rotary Cutter, Woods LR 108 96" Landscape Rake, Woods GB60 60" Box Blade
