I felt around in the grease channel hole and felt the passage hole. I spent about a half hour trying to make sure I got the wire in what I imagined to be a plug of hardened sediment and dig as much as I can out. Rinse out the channel and tried the tool again..still no go.

This time I did the wire thing again and then before I put it together I heated the pin with a MAP gas burner, put the zerk back on, ignored the cleaning tool, went right to the cordless gun with a elbow fitting I put together..it was a good fit, press the trigger and..........................

Finally I think the previous owner didn't do as much lubing as
I will

I have a 90' union on the end of the cordless gun hose and the coupler attached to that, I'm leaving it like this, it works fine for all the zerks I have.

(when it finally took grease I thought my gun was empty cause it wasn't straining )

also in the middle of all this I took the snap ring off the pin and pulled the bolt out, but the pin didn't want to move. Had it come to it, I'd a found a way to get it out, but glad I didn't have to.

Three hours gone start to finish, about an hour more than I thought, but I knew it could'a took a lot more. Next job!

Congratulations Tim!

In the end, I guess this shows that there is no substitute for heat!

While it's possible the heat made it happen..I think digging the crude out of the bushing grease passage was the key this time. The swing arm set up is some thick stuff, not sure how much heat actually got to the passage.

After digging in what was surely the passage hole, the crude on the wire tip wasn't good slippery grease, kinda felt like valve lapping compound. I got a bit of it out too.

Looking back I could'a grabbed the oxy acetylene tanks from work and get some real heat happening.

A big thank you for all the suggestions. Although the tool didn't work in this instance,( it was like cement in the little grease passages) it looks like it'll do the trick for plugged zerks and normal dry grease blockages. It goes in my big toolbox for special need. Always good to have well made tools, and this looks like it'll last a lifetime not sorry I have it, and I'm sure it'll get used.

Buying used tractors I expect some examples of lax maintenance so not unhappy, just glad I caught it and was able to get the grease in without a tear down.
