Default Keeping bushings greased

Just want to hear how you guys deal with this. I've thought I had two zerks that won't take grease. I removed them and swapped zerks with same size from other bushings, so I know they work, still won't take grease. I did force some grease in there with the zerks out, but that doesn't cut it. The blockage is bad, I've usually been able to force clear a blockage with my two handed grease gun, but not now.
You shoulda' seen my new cordless Lincoln grease gun strain when I tried those two zerks the other day.

I'm not looking forward to taking the swing portion of my backhoe apart to clear the blockage, I was thinking about filling with solvent for a day or so, and then use air pressure to try and force the solvent by the obstruction.

The other one is a curl bushing for the loader, not too concerned here, pretty easy to remove bushing if necessary.

The first two times I greased everything I though they took grease but looking closely they aren't getting any.

Any thoughts/experience?

.... Tim

Try putting the boom in different positions and see if it will take grease then. You can also try to lift the rear of the tractor with the boom and try it. I have to lift the front of my tractor with the FEL so the front axle pivot will accept grease.

Wink These work...Fill it with oil and whack it...

Best Cordless Grease Gun???

Buzzard Gulch Catalog H 2005 Page 72

It also clears out the area where the grease is plugged, down inside the component...

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

This is the one place where the Lincoln 14.4v is supposedly superior to the 12v. Shall I come down and see if the hype is right and the extra cost was justified???

Believe it or not, prior to buying the Lincoln 14.4v, I'd had some luck with boiled water (lots of it - be patient!) and pressurized hot water in breaking loose similar blockages. As always, YMMV.

And Kenny is dead right. Move that sucker around a lot and then try, try again!

The minute I realized I had a problem my thoughts went right to the 14.4v that you bought and I didn't. You're welcome to come down anytime Doug, with or without the grease gun. (It'd be nice to see what your Yanmar can do about a few of my rocks just kidding) A visit would be a good excuse to sit in a lawn chair for an hour or two... instead of work, work, work. Today I cut down the big tree (that I wasn't going to), along with six younger ones, tight quarters, so a lot of dragging branches by hand, am I a sore puppy right now. Yesterday was woodsplitter day, very good for the back. When I do get to sit on the L35 and work it's a dream day

When I next get a chance I'll try that Kenny, thanks for the suggestion, It sounds like a good one.

I thought of that Paul, could just barely get the fitting on, very tight area, so I remove the straight zerk and installed a 45' one. If nothing else works I might have to spend the money. I also thought of a butane torch to try and liquify the blockage.

Thanks for all your help

.... Tim
