Default Correct RPM'S TO Run my tractor.

Hi everyone. I was hoping for some advise on the topic. I am a fairly new tractor operator (1.5 yrs.) and new to the B2620 (11 hrs.) The manual really does not specify what is the correct RPM'S to run the machine at. I dont mow w/ it just using the FEL and doing some Box blading and york raking, Any suggestions??? Thanks

If it's a hydrostatic transmission, you should run it up higher up the rpm range. (1500 or so)

if it's a gear transmission, I like to just let it idle and work the foot throttle. Sometimes when doing a lot of FEL work, i up to about 1100 or so just so the hydraulics run faster, but really I just use the foot throttle for my needs.

You can't hurt it, don't worry about it. They are designed to run at PTO speed (whatever it is for your tractor, it will be marked on the tachometer) forever.

Thanks Cowboy, I have a HYDROSTATIC tran. I have a marked PTO speed of 540 I beleive. It is marked on the meter. Might sound silly but the numbers go 1-4 and I beleive these go by thousands correct? I have been running it roughly about 2k to 2200 or so.

Brian's right on. When I'm operating the backhoe or the fel, I generally run between 1500-1800 rpms. The only time I run at the 'rated' rpm is when I'm using a PTO driven implement.

i think cowboy must have a larger tractor because those r's are extremely low for the smaller machines. i just got a bx24 and it idles at 1100 and tops at 3100. i would imagine your 26 will be right around there maybe a hair lower. i usually run at 22-2600.

Not sure if this is a high reving motor - but for FEL use and box blading you dont need full PTO power. Lets say your machine is rated at 2,800 RPM at full PTO, I would run the Fel and box blade around 1,500-,1800 rpm all day long. The nice part is you dont waste fuel and the machine isnt under a load as much

Hope this helps

I know my specs say the RPM's range is 2800. I have been running for heavy loader work (boulders etc...) at ab out 2200 is this okay or am I stressing the new machine too much?

I fall in with most others commenting. On my CUT I typ run the engine between 1200 & 1800 rpm. Even running the tiller on the garden, (it been worked annually for 37 yrs) about 2000. Rarely I'm doing work that needs full governed speed. Do the same with the GT. Mower cuts well in the mid-2000's and never run the engine at full governed speed. MY thoughts are, regulate the engine speed based on the task at hand.
