TOWNSEND, Mass. - A woman was killed Friday when a hay wagon rolled over in Townsend.


The incident happened at about 4 p.m. at Brookside Farm on Wheeler Road, Townsend police said.
The 40-year-old victim was taken to Nashoba Valley Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident is under investigation by local and state authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

TOWNSEND -- State and local police continue to investigate the death of a 40-year-old farm employee who died after being trapped under an overturned hay wagon at Brookside Farm on Friday.
The woman has been identified as a Pepperell resident.
Leslie Spoth, 40, of 169 Townsend St., died after being trapped underneath a hay wagon.
Rescue crews extricated her from underneath the wagon and transported her to Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident occurred about 4 p.m. Friday, when a hay trailer overturned in a field at the Wheeler Road farm and pinned the woman underneath.
Stephanie Guyotte, a spokeswoman for the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, previously said investigators believe the incident was accidental and that the office does not expect criminal charges to be filed.
Investigators from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are also investigating.
