Exclamation Ammo price increase!

The various ammo manufacturers are planning another price increase in January 08.
The world market effect on raw materials, plus the war in Iraq are keeping supplies tight. Law enforcement agencies are having a difficult time maintaining their supply of training ammo, due to the military demand.
If you need it, or just want to plan ahead, now would be the time to pick up what you need.

I wonder how wide spread the tight supply is on law enforcement. Neighbor of my folks a few yrs back owned a small bullet making Co and he sold bullets to the Salem Police Dept. He also had accounts with several local reloaders that had accounts with some police departments.

I suppect a lot of police departments use reloads for target practice. Now if primer and powder are in short supply, that's another story.

The supply has tightened up signifiicantly where the caliber usage is similar. Primers are a bit harder to get, but powder is still available. The price of lead has jumped greatly.
Many States Attorneys General have mandated that law enforcement officers must qualify with the ammo that they carry in their duty weapons, and is generally factory type accepted by the AG's office. That's one of the reasons for the shortage, PD's can't use re-loads for qualifications anymore!

Yes, I have heard that the largest % of the increase is due to the cost of precious metals, copper, brass and lead. Iraq has caused some of this, but it's mostly just the the world market for metals.

China and India becoming industrialized can be blamed for higher commodity prices across the board, oil, metals, etc.
Farmers switching to Bio-fuel production, and paying more for deisel to run their equipment, are causing food prices to rise.

6+ billion humans, and counting, on the earth.

They say world population will top off around 7 Billion maybe 8 billion in the next 20 years. That's about 4 Billion too many for me.

I wish each one would give me a penny.

Kubota BX2350 and more attachments than I have sense to operate.
