Default Case 580K

How to add auxillary loader hydraulics?
I have been wanting to add a grapple loader.
But am having trouble getting a clue about how to add a circut.
It has a wobble stick loader control. So there should be an open position on stick.
The control valves seem to be modular.
So can a person add another circut to the control valve then follow the schematic for a clamshell loader bucket.
Or: is there an easier way?
Or: do i need to find the loader control valve for a clam loader set up?

I wish I could help! But I no NO idea how the hydraulics are set up on that machine. Is it possible to post pictures of the control valve, and where the lines go to the loader arms?

Hi'ya Underdog,
Maybe these guys can help. Contact them and ask questions on how they would do it. Valve Kits ......seems like something that can be added fairly easily.

I've spoken with Nelson Long, seems like a good guy.

Hey Dog! Great, powerful machine you have there! Got to run one recently (albeit very briefly) and can't wait to move up to a full-size hoe someday.

Last time I checked, folks were selling whole integrated, model-specific, third function "kits" for the various Case machines that included all valving, hardware, cover, hoses & tubing, electric, etc. to add in the third function. They integrated very nicely into the existing hydraulics & controls... making the whole thing look almost original/stock. But if memory serves me right, they were not exactly cheap!

W.R. Long makes 4-in-1 buckets that go up to 1.25 yards and 6,500 lbs... but I am not so sure their various valve kits would be appropriate for your Case machine. The Long valve kits seem to be aimed more at the CUT/UT/aggie tractor market and not commercial construction machinery. I'd check pressure ratings very carefully before jumping on a Long valve kit. Ask if they've ever even sold such a kit for use on a full-size Case hoe.

I am not totally clear if you are looking just to work a grapple or 4-in-1 bucket... or if you are looking to add a true continuous auxiliary hydraulics flow capability (and, if so, at what pressure and flow rate). Obviously, that will make a big difference in whatever you ultimately decide to buy.

Well i was looking at the manual when i thought of the 4 in 1 bucket.
Found a place online yesterday that showed all the parts. But they will not let me return. What i saw was a 3 valve loader control with what looked like two sticks (yuk)
Never seen the controls on an older backhoe with the 4 in 1 loader, myself.
The newer machines are like the long set up thru-out.
The long setup looks more to my liking.
The manual say my front pump should be 10 GPM at 2000 PSI
I did not think this indevor would be real cheap. Guess thats why i was looking at a factory set up, Maybe could find something being parted.
Anyway real good help. I am not i any big hurrry but am headed that way.
Yes the full size machines are nice. I have been operating them for alot of years.
This is the first one i have owned personally.
I will see if i can get a picture up for you later.

Only 2,000 PSIG? That should be no problem at all then. I was thinking 4,000 PSIG components like I'm seeing on some of the newer CAT machines I like to play on (until they come and throw me out at night) up at Milton CAT!

Somehow, I think you'd have to look long and hard for someone parting out a 580K... but if that were possible, I'll bet that the front hydraulic kit would be the first or second thing to go!

How many op hours on your machine Dog... and for someone possibly looking to buy a used full-size backhoe someday, how many operating hours max would you look for on a used Case machine?

For comparison purposes, I would suggest you talk to your Case CE dealer and see if there is a whole goods kit for the third function, and find out how it works, how it installs, and pricing. Then you might be in a better position to talk to third-party vendors to find an offering you want.

Yes the new stuff is really nice these days.
I kind of like the older stuff though, not so much rocket science involved.
If i had the money i would have an M model though.

Somebody is parting one somewhere.

I do not know if the hour meter still works. It is (i think) showing 4500Hrs.

I think they are usually pretty well beat down at about 5000hrs
I have been seing alot of nice 200hr machines for sale latley.
