Default Intro - help choosing subcompact

Hello MU from southcentral PA. I've been reading for about 2 weeks and am on the market for my first subcompact. Uses: primarily mowing about 2+ acre hilly terrain, secondary landscaping including clearing adjacent wooded/rocky area (also hilly), typical mulching and grounds maintenance, adding/grading topsoil and gravel (and stress relief). Due to local and dealers I've narrowed my search to JD2305, Kubota BX24 and CCYanmar sc2400 (with Woods hoe). My desired specs are TLB, 60" deck and bagger in compact unit (fit in garage @ 7' or underdeck @ 8'). I'm considering ease of use, price, dependability, service and warranty. All three local dealers have a good reputation.
I would appreciate the experience/advice of the membership in helping with my choice. I'm considering renting a CC 5234D for about 1-2 months to delay my decision.
Any word on new models coming out this fall(BX25, JD)?

Welcome to MU

All the machines listed are excellent, although the CC/Yanmar is new to the game...but Yanmar has been building the JD sub-compacts for a LONG time so I expect they will prove to be a great unit in the long run...

My bias goes towards the JD-but I think in a TLB package the 2320 or 2520 are better suited to accommodate the hoe. The BX24 has a great history to of being a tough little cookie, but I hate the boomerang/treadle pedal design for the hydro control.

John Deere 4110HST
FEL, MMM, FEL Forks (homemade),I-Match, Ballast Box, #380 plow (modified to fit) Markham LD-48 Grapple, and lots of other STUFF.

Hi kwolfod, Welcome to MU

I'll just add one more to the mix (I doubt you'd be unhappy with any brand you mentioned already) Massey Ferguson GC2410 or GC2610 both are TLB's..
MF GC2400 and GC2600 Series

.... Tim

Any of the three you have chosen will do the job...And as soon as you make the decision, you will suffer buyer's regret...

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

welcome to the fold and you came to the right place to get advice -
rent ok but dont buy the Cub 5234D - stick with the other brands you mentioned (orange/green). Now that I showed my obvious bias - sorry about that.

Sounds like you need two machines.
One to buy: Mowing and maintenance of property
One to rent or hire: Initial clearing and grading of property
But if you are dead set on one machine to do everything and anything.
This is the only type of machine i can think of Compact track loader- track loaders
They will enjoy the confined space - be able to handle slopes - have attachments for any job (if you can afford them) - have the power to use thase attachments.
I would go with option one.
