    Default 2520 power steering

I always notest as the tractor gets hot my 2520 power steering is not as strong as it is when cold. i dont think nothing is wrong cause its been that way since it was new. it has 60 hours , and its still the same. when its cold. it steers easy even at ideal. and hot you need to rev up to at least 1000 to 1500 for it to be easy to steer. i know the fluid heats up. and gets thinner i am sure. I am fixing to do the 50 hour service. is there a better grade of fluid to put in than the JD fluid that came in it. i live in GA and its hot here we dont have much winter. and in summer its 90 degrees all the time.
    anyone else ever notest this?

Chris, I think you should just stick with the REGULAR JD HY Gard hydraulic oil-not the low viscosity stuff. It's good

Kenny , i dont know what viscosity is in my 2520.
what ever comes in it. where i live its hot most of the time.
right now it 90 degrees and will be close to 100 in the next weeks.
does JD make a little heavier weight fluid than what came in the tractor now.
even my backhoe gets weaker as it gets hot.

I am not sure what JD/Yanmar puts in the machines when they are built-But I heard they use the RED dye to help see leaks better. I don't know if that's true or not though...

The regular HY GARD is the heaviest you you can safely use-Just make sure not to use the LOW VIS HY GARD.

Kenny - do you know of a syntehtic alternative to deeres Hy-guard? I think maybe Paul posted some info on it and maybe it will help handle the temps better that Chris is encountering -

Chris - i would change that fluid like today - its time to to get the shavings out, and maybe put in the better stuff

    Chris..
No, I have noticed no difference in steering whether cold or hot. But for sure it does not steer well at idle. I usually raise the RPM's to near full throttle all the time anyway!

    Loss of Steering
    1. Insufficient oil supply to steering valve
    R. Transmission oil pump not functioning properly
    2. Other hydraulic functions receiving priority
    R. Adjust pressure control valve
    3. Clogged transmission-hydraulic oil filter
    R. Replace filter
    4. Main hydraulic pump not functioning or pump shutoff screw, if used, is in off position
    R. Open pump shutoff screw
    R. Repair main hydraulic pump
