Engine starts quickly, no smoke, runs smooth. Sheet metal is in good condition. There are some things bent that should not be. Most seem superficial. The assembly where the lower end of one of the loader hydraulic cylinders mounts has been bent and it twists things. I am not sure how to straighten that out. A little frame and a hydraulic Jack might flatten it out.

Little bits of hydraulic fluid on a lot of the cylinders. Nothing that looks big. No drips from under the unit. (I checked the new trailer he brought it on. It was only on the trailer for a few hours, but if there was something major it should have shown something. Tires are fair (ag tires). The owner said it has used synthetic motor oil since break-in.

I want to go through and clean up little things (bent nails instead of clips) and lube everything. I spent a few hours researching grease and I would like to use stuff called Moly 880; but it is about $300 for a case of 50 tubes. I am guessing that is at least 3X my estimated lifetime remaining. Anyone want to split a case?

The back hoe is a Woods 6500 with a small bucket (3 teeth, less than 12" I think. I can't find any label on the loader. It is Deer.

I am currently embarased to say I can not close the hood. The guy left it up. I do not see any latch and I don't want to break anything. Any help?

I have been trying to find the parts and service manuals online without sucess. JD seems to take them offling when they get old. Which does not make a whole lot of sense. They are now more likely to get sold with lost or damange manuals. Anyone know where to download the manuals?

I am going out to try to figure out how to close the hood again.

Incidentally, the reason I don't want to rent is having to have the unit delivered and returned (I can't do it, and it not being likely that I would get everything done in a reasonable time frame. This way I can do a bit at a time when I feel like it.

One other thing. I left the loader up in the air last night. This morning it is on the ground. Is this normal or is there an issue?

I got the hood. I found another post and all you have to do is lubricate and then just close it. Works just fine.

I wanted to pressure wash it; my pressure washer doesn't work. Used about 2 hours 8 years ago. Worked fine. Not now. Have you ever noticed how often you have to fix something to fix what you started out to fix? Ad infinitum.

I have vacillated back and forth for a year or more - new Chinese with Korean or US attachments or used something or new something. This seemed like a good deal. I am not going to be a heavy user. I am hoping I will die before it does.

Anyone know where to get good JD green paint other than a dealer touch-up kit? I want to make it prettier. A little rust removal, some primer and a nice green layer. Perhaps a bit of polish for the whole thing. I would not do this for myself, you understand, but I couldn't stand my wife being embarrassed when her friends see my toy.
