Thumbs up Why everyone needs a backhoe

Well me and Johnny D did some work the other day. we dug 293 feet of storm drain. you will see where the pipe come out of the bank and where i added a white pipe for a drain in the back yard. also where i put the two ditches together. the ditch is a little wider there. i had to side swing it.
the ditch is 16 inches wide 4 feet deep. and 293 feet long. through roots and rock. Nothing stops Johnny D... it was hell to dig through the woods. in some places i had to put the stableizers against the trees. this was why i did not get a 3000 seris i was going to get. i would of never go it through there i stratelded the dritch to dig. you are probebly wondering how i got back over the ditch??... it was simple. just put the boom in the ground lift the tractor and swing it over the ditch...
Here is a few pics

Thats some project my friend and one hell of a long ditch - You mentioned the thought of the 3000 series. Bigger is better, and if it was me I would have got the 3000 series, and rented a mini-hoe/max for the tight work.
But I have to say having the 2520 w/the 46BH literaly has already paid for itself for me. But any 2000 series, even the 2210 & 2305 with the 260 series hoe, this is the perfect job for them -

besides how much rain do you get? Im hearing horrible drought conditions - how close are you to that? our drought (dosent compare to what you guys have) is at least over - and the lawns are as green as can be

p.s yes I will increase the number of picture per post - your high maintainence

so i got to see if my ditch worked.... and it did. other than that. we had about 10 days of rain this year. its bad. lake lanier is down about 40 feet. if we dont get rain thay say it will be dry in 120 days. if you get caught washing your car you will be arrested... no crap!!!!!

its killing me , i cant wash Johhny D , he is the most dirty he has been since i had him...

It sure sounds and looks like the 2520 was the perfect machine for your trench. Sorry to hear how severe your drought is. Sure seems like we have seen some wild swings in weather the past few years.

Cheers

You got that 260 on order yet? the weather is strange and the warmer season is longer - providing there is water its extended the mowing season at least 6 weeks (maybe 8) up here. Good and bad I guess, I can make more but im tired in the end -

Duc,

Not yet on the 260. One of the things I wanted to do first was build another shed, but I guess I played too much golf this summer.

Cheers

Its a long ditch but do you think adding rock or some cheap concrete (crushed 1 -2") could keep the erosion down ?

Did something like that for a customer, but the ditch wasnt as long for drainage, and erosion control (somewhat). It worked pretty good under the heavy storms. But you have to blow out the leaves and stuff after a while
