Points: 69 | Replacement sealed AGM battery for Deeres 22NF series or others please post A lot of concern with corrosion form the stock Deere batterys - for a period of time optima offered a group 51 series, but discontinued it. The newer Deeres use a 22NF series, which isnt a common size.
This guy might help the 22nF owners, with a slight bracket mod...

Points: 0 | No corrosion with the NF22 The secret is to make sure your battery is is filled to the proper mark. It only spills if it is low.
I noticed the battery 'leaking' after about 6 mos. I went in an filled it, the problem stopped and hasn't returned. I just topped it off today. I check it every month or two depending on how often I use the tractor.

Can you elaborate on his more? Why will it spill if it's low?
The battery in my 4110 leaked while still under warranty, the dealer replaced it with a sealed unit, Delco I think? | John Deere 4110HST

I think you will like it here and if memeory serves my correctly
you have either a deere 2320 or 2520.
I think the battery troubles (sometimes they dont happen) happen more frequently with folks who mow. I think it has a lot to do with heat (summer mowing) and long durations of full PTO vibrations.
The bitch about acid when it touches metal is like the scene out of "aliens" where the acid from Alien just kept eating through the floors - not as fast of course buts its hard to stop it (baking soda and such help).
I never want to get to that point ever again....

Points: 0 | Lots of theories on this Kenny. But when my battery started 'leaking' I said to myself, look the seals are good, what has changed? The only thing that changed was the level so I corrected it, put some baking soda in the pan and kept an eye on it. Sure enough it is fine. I no longer see acid on the top of the battery when I stop at the end of the day and check it.
The only corrosion I have is from when it leaked initially and that is very slight because I have been aware of the problem and always checked for it so I caught it right away.
Try it. I'll bet the guys who don't see any problems are checking their batteries on a regular basis.
It's the cheapest solution.

Come to think of it the first time I saw leakage was when I mowed the front field (about 4 acres). The thing is that once the battery was up to level I mowed the fields with no leakage.

Rob | You are right its the cheapest solution -
the screwed up part is for Deere to pick an odd type of battery -22NF
my older 4100 was a Group 51 (more popular) at least Optima had a model. Then they discontinued it, so no replacement yet with those - they had the same acid leaking issue as now.
They only AGM type battery I found was the one above for the 22NF style. Of course you have to mod your own strap/tray for it. Either way its a pain in the ass and you have to monitor the situation which is not a comfortable feeling IMHO

Fill it up and the open space is smaller, less back slashing...makes total sense
