Exclamation JD 2000 series maintenance issue

    Preventive maintenance issue:
If you have a front quick hitch on your JD 2000 series, take a moment and check the cotter pins for signs of premature wear. After this past storm I noticed that 2 cotter pins on my hydraulic mount were missing. JD installed these cotter pins without washers to protect them from moving parts, and I think they may be subject to premature wear.

Also, check the front fitting on the hydraulic angling cylinder. The 90 degree fitting which screws into the cylinder has now been bent during operation, for the second time in 3 years, on mine. It seems that snow and ice can be trapped in the area of the angling cylinder, causing it to be compacted and solidified during operation, which can cause damage to the fitting.

Excellent, thank you very much for the heads up. I will have to add washers if they are missing. After this last BIG storm I was going to check everything over this weekend. Maybe even take a look at the chain tension on the blower.

probably not unique to the 2520
but checking loader arms that attach to frame - the bolts specifically on occasion can come loose.
lug bolts as well on wheels
i use paint on them to determine if they moved by a quick visual

An old factory trick. Use a pain marker on the frame, across the bolts. That way if the mark is off, you know it has backed off. Also, easier for quick inspection that way.
    Thanks,

Loose bolts?, missing cotter pins?...My mechanic
has never told me about those things during his DAILY checkout of the equipment...

Yesterday my MMM rear arm at came off at the deck I lost the pin, I think it's because it doesn't have a washer and the cotter pin is too small, the other side was about off

Thats not good! cotter pins pop out too often -maybe the washers and wire wrapping the pin, so it dosent come out or if it does, dosent get lost
