My local Kubota Palace sold one of the two I've seen come in so far. I expected to see both of them and more fly out the door and to see their lot littered with near new used L48's taken in trade for bottom-feeders like me... ...but so far it hasn't happened. In this weird economy, I am not surprised at anything anymore.

Default This is just a big toy!!!

Now here is a quote that says alot about that M59 purchase..."I can't wait until we need to use it"...

Paul in VT

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

economy good or bad. I dont think this model will ever just
fly off the shelf. its a little different than say a BX 24 or even a 3030.
the guy that bought that M59 said Aux Hydraulics and thumb and quicktach hoe bucket and all. any way you slice it. thats 50 grand.
unless you are in the bissiness. that is alot of cheese , and even if you are
in the bissiness it better be doing well to lay out 50 grand. just because its cool and new...

and Paul i read where he said he could not wait til he needed
it. ....... I guess its nice to have money to burn.

It is a awsome machine no doubt.

And just what exactly is wrong with having "Big Toys" so long as you can afford them???

If I won the PowerBall lottery today, I'd have an M59 here tomorrow!!!

Unless I win that Powerball lottery, my current calculations show that I will be able to afford a 2008 Kubota M59 (*slightly* used, of course) on or about January 1, 2053.

Unfortunately, the actuarial tables show I will be dead by then, but it's always good to know exactly where one stands in such matters.

Chris.....

This, is my aged old argument from way back when the L 48 came out,. Most all the New England dealers were asking 50 plus for the 48. Granted it had all the option available at the time,, still, I couldn't get a one of them to be reasonable.. I have no problem with dealers making money,, but raping is a different story... I bought mine, best New England dealer price was 52 G's, and I paid 42. The 42 included 6% Ct sales tax, full manuals and filter and oils for the first two required changes. To get this price, I did however, agree to go half way with my trailer, (Maybrook NY truck stop) and we made the swap there.. I would have stayed New England for a grand more, but for ten grand more, no way..

Most of the dealers who have them are moving them - they are selling because they are no longer on the lots -

The bottom line (for me anyway) is that any brand new machine in this class is going to need at least 500 premium billable hours per year to justify itself in commercial use. Make that more like 700 billable hours per year at the cut-throat low rates it seems to take to get work these days. Ain't gonna happen in my case... so used is my only option.

How folks can justify buying such a costly machine for private/personal use is beyond me. I mean, if you want one and have the money, all power to ya! But I'd still think a basic or "slightly used" full-size hoe would make more sense than an M59.
