Ah yes, the nightmare scenario. We try to avoid that whenever possible. Nightmares are so unpleasant.

Thanks Chris,

This has been a time consuming search because I wanted to spend as little as possible for as much tractor/backhoe possible. I spent so much time on line this last two months , I stoop over when standing.

Oh wait, scratch that, I've been stooped over for a good while longer than that. Poor posture ...

I got the call from my shipper at about 7:00pm today. The shipper had just left with my L35 from a location in Maryland. Barring all unpleasant possibilities, I should have it sometime very early tomorrow morning.

No matter how many toys or tools, even small inexpensive ones, I get a boost of the mood. Thinking of this showing up feels mighty fine.

Update!!!

At 10:30pm friday night I spoke with a distraught shipper. His late model truck with low miles died in the middle of I95 just outside Baltimore MD. It would either start and die within 5-10 minutes, or no start at all. He had been frantically calling trucker friends in hope of getting my tractor and attachments to me on saturday, but was having no luck.

He finally made it to a motel a couple minutes up the road, but it was barely running and died again as he was parking it, would not restart.

I hung up the phone feeling that my shipper had enough problems without the added stress of my equipment's security in a less than stellar neighborhood. I called him back and offered to drive my trailer down to MD immediately and take my stuff off his hands. He felt terrible about the situation and although wanted to be able to fulfill our agreement, not having my property to worry over would free him up to worry about his own problem.

Well that's what I did, left here at 1:15am saturday. I stopped to rest 4 or 5 times and got less than 1 1/2 hours total sleep.

So although the story is rich with exhaustion and concerns about my own aged truck and trailer I'll skip to the happy ending...

I made it,...... all is well..and here's a few pics, but now I think a good 8-10 hours sleep is earned.

...........

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

Thanks Doug, you know I think I'll adopt your reasoning in this. "forever in my debt" and myself as the tractors caring benefactor, making sure it always has what it needs to last a long time, and perform properly.

No, not a Ford, it's a Dodge, sounds like a failing fuel pump to me. Still under warranty in a strange town, many miles from his home.
I have no doubt It'll be fixed within a few days, but my tractor won't be sitting in a motel parking lot, and then moved to a dealership lot with little true security..
