Default Went with orange this time.

Been looking for a good deal on a used TLB or larger CUT with FEL and Backhoe. Was this close (")to getting a 2002? L35 with approx 12000 hrs, but I was waiting on someone with a 3510 Mahindra, FEL+BH with approx 700 hrs to answer a question I had e-mailed. While I was waiting for this guy to get back to me I saw this listed on-line.

.......

Has front hydraulic remotes, with joystick control, it has softside cab with heater, QA loader bucket, also QA backhoe bucket (2 bh buckets), includes a tiller and a snow pusher bucket. Called the owner up, made him promise not to sell it before I got there, jumped into my car with my wife and drove 369 miles to verify and leave a deposit if all was well.

2 or 3 years newer than the other L35 with approx 800 fewer hrs. Looks much cleaner/fresher with no broken plastic and little if any tin flaws. The price was the same as the older L35 that had no extras...I bought it!

The Mahindra owner did me a big favor by not getting back to me right away..

Now to get it home.

One small problem....my wife wants me to sell the Deere 770, it's been a great little worker, be sorry to let it go, but...

.... Tim

You must have esp Doug.
How'd you know I feel like this?

It's funny how some things work out, and other times nothing goes right. I will feel better when I get it transported and have it right here.

By the way has anyone used Uship? they gave me a Shipping Price Estimate of $530.00, I realize it's like Priceline.com, but that sounds pretty good to me.

I knew you could do better than those two machines you were focusing on! Like I told you Tim: just takes some patience!

I've used uShip with mixed success. The trick is to attract that attention of the right (read: most economical) shipper. Sometimes it takes a bit of luck and sometimes it just takes time.

I think Tim said 369 miles... and it sounds like that was one way. So let's see: 738 miles round trip @ 10 MPG average = 73.8 gallons. At $4.00 per gallon that's about $300.00 in fuel alone. Add those hideous highway and bridge tolls for truck and trailer... maybe $100.00 more. Add a 12K trailer rental (to play it safe with USDOT) and probably an overnight stay near the seller with meals (unless you're into long day marathon runs)... and I think you start to approach (or exceed) that $530.00 figure (not counting wear and tear on the truck).

370 miles.

Well I have a 7K 16' car hauler. The TLB (according to Kubota) wieghs 5997lbs add the tiller and 2 extra buckets, the little the softside cab and heater wieghs, then throw on the weight of the trailer... tic-a-tic-a-tic-a-tic and the results are too heavy....also it's just a tad too long.

Now if I rent something I lose another day (not terrible) I spend most likely $200-300 in fuel and the cost of rental.. I'll spend a bit more to have it delivered by an outfit with all the proper license and insurance requirements...if it's not too much more!

edit:I see Doug beat me to it...

It's a 1993 GMC K2500 with a 5.7 gas engine, truthfully I'm not sure it's up to the job, but if the cost of hiring someone is too much I'll get to find out.

The thought is.. remove FEL bucket and BH bucket that will lighten it by 400-500 lbs, and any other removable weight. secure tractor on my 16' trailer, it will be close to maximum, but okay I think. The weight of the extras in the bed would be too much for my truck, so would have to have a friend follow me down with my other p/u , F150 with 5.0 engine. Put all the buckets and the tiller in bed of second truck, then convoy home. More gas costs and more toll charges, but a possible plan B.

I don't know Tim. If it were me with my luck... I'd end up in jail after the 7K trailer tires blew out in the middle of the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
