Yes for sure it is well insulated, (r20) for the walls and (R40) for the attic, not worth heating if it's not well insulated.

Pink panther R20 or R40 insulation with a 10mill vapor barrier will do it . Also depending on which type of siding you use, if you put Tyvek barrier before the siding, the R# may go up a little and help in reducing heating cost!

I heat with a forced air oil furnace and it cost me about 350$ to heat all winter about a 1000 square feet.

You must have no insulation at all if your house is cold like that and that expensive to heat...? might be worth the money to insulate?

Where about are you?

Sylvain

I am down here in Eastern Massachusetts! Low price for heating oil in my town is currently $4.35/gallon. Average is about $4.50. $350.00 would only buy me about 80.5 gallons at the low price... less than 15% of what I use. I am considered "well-insulated" around here... so I guess you are super-insulated!!! In wintertime, I close off the upstairs completely and live in the bottom half of my house... exactly 720 square feet. Probably the same size as your nicely heated garage.

You know, it's funny what people will put up with because a dealer that is not kowledgable and won't fight for you. I don't care what anyone says, most of the leakdown I am reading about here and other boards is not normal. People should really start complaining to the manufacturers and then they would listen and do something. They are either purchasing or making low quality valves, this is why your cylinders leakdown most of the time on new equipment.
