Default About to jump to a MX5100

Looking at a MX5100 with FEL, heavy duty bucket, Bradco Forks and a Woods B90X Backhoe. What have you seen or heard about this new Kubota. I like the basic setup of stepping on a clutch peddle. Will be used to develop a piece of land for a new homestead. Clearing, stumping, road building, trenching and septic. Also to be on site for portable sawmill guy to help with handling. Anyone one running a MX5100? BW

Major jobs like large scale clearing and road building should be done by Bulldozers!!!

Septic systems if they are NOT mound systems...the field should be trenched with a trencher, NOT a BH...it is faster and easier to control slopes...

Depending on how many stumps you have to clear...it will be easier on your equipment to contract that work out...

Also, contracting out many of these tasks means that the work will be completed in your lifetime...

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

Paul, I do agree on the dozer on the road work and may rent one. Excavators in my area seem to use only large excavators for 90% of what they do and see my job as fill in work so that's why I am thinking of the MX5100. Anyone own a 5100? BW

Paul is right, of course... at least about the "large scale clearing and road building" aspect of this or any other job. Few would argue that point. I am less convinced on the septic system since every septic guy I know uses a backhoe or mini-/midi-excavator for his digging. Stumping will obviously depend heavily on the specifics of your property and building plans.

And it is always easier on your own equipment to contract your work out! No disagreement possible there!

But none of this means that you should not go out and buy the biggest, baddest, meanest, damnedest machine that you can possibly afford. I sincerely doubt you will come to regret it!

The MX5100 is new this year so you are not going to get a lot of meaningful owner feedback anywhere... but based on Kubota's industry dominance and this machine's immediate predecessors, I doubt you are going to go far wrong.

You are also going to find a clear bias in favor of the Kubota TLB series on this fine website for folks doing a lot of construction-type work. If you can afford to move up to an L39, L48 or M59 you will likely be mucho happier and better off.
