I'm trading my B21 for a new L39 tomorrow and the ser. is 543--. I ask for a bucket blade and I am going quick disconnect with additional 12" bucket and filled rear tires. What else should I do or not do?

Thanks Dave

PS- I had a L35 before the B21 and wonder if I can be as quick with forward/reverse changing back to shuttle shift?

Sounds like you've got it very nicely covered. And congratulations on getting in there before the de-rate!

After owning an L35 and a B21, I'm sure you know exactly what you want and don't want... so I'll not insult you by suggesting anything different.

Thanks Dougster
I'm trying to remember if I was as effiecent or could be; with the shuttle shift. I still can go L48, but, I think I'll lose my tight spots I might to be in as it seemed quite large when I drove one a few years back. I'm trying to fill a niche where full size BH's are not welcome or can't fit.

I welcome any pros and cons of my choice to be.

I think the L39 is a fine machine. Very hard to go wrong with that choice. My sole complaint about it is that there should be a wheel and tire upgrade offered as an option (I am a "big tire" guy!). Other than that, it is about as close to a perfect 3/4 ton pick-up & 10K trailer-haulable TLB as has ever been created.

I don't think you'll find too many brand new L48's (also a fine machine) on dealer's lots at this time. Around here, new ones have been gone since last fall.

Dougster

There is one on the lot that's new (39-$40,000) but when I trailer one some time back for a friend with my 3/4 ton with a 16ft trailer it was pretty substantial. I still could lean that way but mobility in the my woods or on a job is the key for me.
Also, I have wondered about the best way to weight or should I not weight rear tires? I need to be on steep angles, but move a full load too.

Any suggestions I would appreciate

Dave

That is amazing to me that there is still a brand new L48 left on anyone's lot anywhere. I don't get that at all.

My own opinion... as a non-owner and a guy who routinely gets his butt kicked out of the local Kubota Palace (albeit with a free donut in his mouth) at least once or twice a week for drooling on the orange machines: I would load the tires on the (smaller, lighter) L39 and I would not load the tires on the (already heavy) L48.

Would you fill the tires or add rim weights?

On the L39, I would fill the tires first and add wheel weights later only if more weight is desired. The L39 is still light enough to trailer with the tires filled and I can think of no use where I would ever want to lose that extra weight.

That being said, your mileage (and priorities) may vary. I am simply out to have the heaviest TLB that I can move around to jobsites with a 3/4 ton P/U and a 10K trailer. I would love much more weight if I weren't trailering all over creation, but working mobile you've got to live with what you can move around safely and legally.
