Default Time for new 20"+ chainsaw, whatcha got?

For several years my two cheap Poulan saws have done okay. Lots of dropped trees several pretty big. Yesterday grabbed the 20" Poulan and it wouldn't start. Oh'well it's beat up anyway, so got the Poulan 18" out figured a bit slower but it'll do. Got one cut done but was slow so went about changing the blade...now won't start...rrrrrr. Out came a new comer 14" Echo, slow but the tree is down. Will need to cut it up now. The Echo's a good saw (I have two, a one arm pruning saw and a small one with rear handle, both 14") but they're not for cutting up big trunks. The tree sits on the ground til I get a good replacement.

Both the Poulans are old and beat, they were cheap to buy and not too concerned about replacing them, I am concerned about getting the wrong replacement saw though....

Opinions please..............

.... Tim

Like you i have a several Poulans. Think the most i paid for one was $40.00
They get the job done and don"t seem to care about being left in the shed for long rests between infreaquent use.
I have a couple of Still saws they are heavy and like alot of attention. But when it gets serious thats the saw to have (if you can get it started after prolonged inactivity).
Chainsaws: Electric Chainsaws, Gas Chainsaws, Cordless Chainsaws
I always did like a homelite.

I have used Poulans quite a bit, but I made the switch to Stihl, and will never go back. Stihl is pricey , absolutely, but they leave the other brands in the dust performance wise.

I've always had woodstoves to feed and trees to cut, so it also depends o how much cutting you do. the more you cut, the more you can justify a more expensive saw.

Kubota BX2350 and more attachments than I have sense to operate.

I recently bought a 20" stihl after fighting with a couple of cheaper saws over the last several years. Every time I use it I am so glad I spent the extra $$. This saw will not let you down, but if it did the stihl dealer network backs them up.

My dad stil has his stihl that he was using when I was a kid.

I prefer Husqvarna. I have used Stihl, but have always found them to be too heavy. Currently i have a 455 with a 20" bar.

Redmax has a few models in that size. We've sold a few Redmax chainsaws, but I don't recall if any were 20" or not. You should be able to browse their catalog for more info...
Overall, I'd say pick a few brands and a few model #'s, then google for some product reviews - that should help narrow the field.
The Redmax 20" are priced around the $400 - $500 range... more expensive than wal-mart but less expensive than some Stihls. If you're curious, PM me and I'll pin a salesman down on pricing.

Thanks for your replies guys.
I spent a while on ArboristSite.com and just as I thought, the Stihl guys out number the Husky guys.

I called my local Stihl dealer and ordered a MS 361 with a 20" bar $599.00. Was told should see it tomorrow about 3:00 pm.
