Default Shortage on fertilizers and others possibly

Sounds like a great start and a fun summer Not to mention cause of a possible shortage in N there will be no lock in price except for stock on hand. So basically, what you pay in the spring, then a shortage, and pay much higher per bag in middle summer. Not sure how I want price to things this year. LOL

I have heard from 2 different suppliers that there is a VERY good chance of a shortage of N this summer. It's not only Nitrogen that will be the problem..........Phosphorus and Potassium will be as well.

dunno about potassium, but phosphorus is WAY up, like $8/bag for 18-46-0 as opposed to N which is only up 20% or so another $5 per bag for 38-12-0 (we don't need potassium here)

I'm paying more than I was charging last year.
Outrageous.

Haven't heard any shortage talk though, although they won't hold prices for you. Prices are what they are when you buy. Could be different tomorrow.

Just bought 6 pallets last week (and laid down 3) plus another 4300lbs of bulk. This work thing is overrated, I"M TIRED

Your laying down already? over here this winter been a very mild one, and the county passed a law that says we cant fertilize until after march thaw.
Not in any rush anyway, but their logic is so if the ground isnt frozen, less fert run off.

yeah, here, early march is the time. last year we couldn't get on anything til mid-late March because of the solid snow cover. But it's all gone (although it keeps snowing every day so I CAN'T FINISH!!!!!)
but a little snow here and there is fine, wash's it right down into the soil.
although it's hard to tell where the fertilizer is going when you are throwing white pellets onto white snow.
stuff is starting to green, gotta hit it so it's there and can take advantage.

The really funny thing? March and april here are crazy. The two snowiest months of the year on average. One day 70, next 25 and snowing (happened last saturday/sunday)

it's the government, they don't need a reason.

Default Runoff Issue

TO STOP RUNOFF into the feeders of Lake Champlain...and some of the major farms' land floods each spring...so if you were to spread in the winter it just washes away downstream...SO WE STOCKPILE...

I keep forgetting that the Lake Champlain Watershed includes fully half of Vermont. I hope ole' Howard Dean doesn't live within that region.

Anyway, I'm been accused of stockpiling BS myself... so I know of what you speak!
