Default Getting ready for Spring planting

Well with Spring two months away, I'm getting a good start. A friend has given me use of a 2-14 plow and a 6ft disc to open up the new garden. I'll be able to tell how well the 2520 does at small scale farming, and order the implements I want with some kind of educated guesstimation, maybe!

I'm still a couple years from doing any real garden work, but it's in the big picture. Hope it works out for you gm. We do want updates.

You will be lucky to pull 1 14" bottom IMO

    Especially if it is sod

I hope it is a lot sooner than 2 months before I have the garden in.

As for the tractor, lot depends on ground conditions if you can pull a 2-14 at a usable speed. Didn't the old 8N/9N's pull a 2-14? I think I'd be concerned about ground clearance. With 2 wheels down in the furrow, ground clearance is an issue.

If it were me, I'd be thinking more along the line of a 4' tiller for your garden work.
Practice makes perfect: After many decade of hard work and practice, it now takes almost no effort to get tired.

As a general rule, plows require 1 HP per inch of moldboard.
    Example:
    1 Bottom 12"=12 HP
    2 Bottom 12"=24 HP
Compact tractor may require more HP than this general rule...

I agree with all the others. I could pull a single bottom plow with my old Ford 1100 (13/11 HP), there was some difficulty breaking up the sod. My tiller(s) did/do the finishwork. Jay
