Default The New Chinese Mahindra

Like it or leave it, they are coming...

Trying to keep an open mind as there seems to be building market interest, but as a "Buy American" kind of guy who has never had a lot of luck with anything marked "Made in China", I must admit that I remain sceptical of this risky move by Mahindra into Chinese production for the American market.

Was over to Tractor Ernie's (for those of you that know him from a couple other forums) today & as he is a Mahindra dealer I asked him about these tractors. He said he just got back from Mahindra's local facilities for a few days of training. Was told Mahindra bought out the Co that made the Lenar tractors. Part of the deal was Mahindra was to send in some of their staff and redesign the Lenar and would market under the Mahindra name. Was told on the first go-round there were 87 design changes. Mahindra still not satisified and hear there were another 200+ changes to be made.

Ernie wasn't too impressed but I don't know all the details or if he got to see one.

Time will tell.

Oh, Mahindra is going to start building small pick-up here in the states and will be diesel powered.

I guess my question is: How do we know that there aren't another 287 design changes necessary before this little beast is ready for prime time???

Yes, I am the ultimate skeptic when it comes to Chinese products and protecting a very reputable brand name!

Yep. Several of their smaller models is/were made by Mits. Don't know where these new Chinese models fits in.
