Harry Ferguson was quite the innovator. His list of accomplishments is very impressive.

During WW I, Harry was the British importer for what was sold as "Overtime" tractors. They were made in the US, by Waterloo Boy Engine Works. Just as the war ended, Waterloo Boy was bought by John Deere, and so became Deere's first successful tractor line. Less than 10 years later, Ferguson patented his 3-point hitch and draft control system.
Yup...! That was a fluid coupling (differential) used in that "P99" race car. It was developed further and eventually used as the basis for the Range Rover all wheel drive system. They still use a further development of the same technology to this very day.
Harry was a brilliant inventor, but sadly enough, not too much of a businessman. He died almost penniless.
When Ferguson and Massey Harris merged, there was a 6 million dollar factory left out of the terms of the sale. (factory was in France) Harry agreed to flip a coin with the President of Massey Harris to see if it was to be bought at Fergusons estimated value OR, simply included in the sale with no compensation. Harry lost the coin toss.
What it would be like today, if Harry would have gotten hooked up with JD, instead of "Henry".
