Points: 0 | Nh Tc31/34da?? Can anyone give me any insights on these machines? I've kind of fallen in love with the size and capabilities of a 34DA with supersteer, FEL, 72" MMM, and 5 ft brush cutter. BUT...at over $22,000, I want to get as much input as possible!

I used to own an ant farm but had to give it up. I couldn't find tractors small enough to fit it.

Welcome to MU . My long winded response to the 31/34 question was digested by the fickle gods of the dialup internet . I will get back to you soon with a document attachment this time . Points: 0 | six4atd: The NH TC 31DA is a tweaked “29” and I believe the “34” to be a tweaked “33”. I believe both were considered by CNH/NH to be their Class II (mid frame size) tractors. CNH/NH had this classification “system”: The TZ’s-TC18DA –TC25DA, Class I- TC23DA – TC26DA, Class II- TC29D now TC31DA – TC33DA now TC34DA(?), and their Class III- were the TC35DA and larger tractors. I believe that CNH/NH did away with the Class I’s and expanded the TZ line, they tweaked up the Class II’s, and kept some of their Class III tractors. Then they went and “simplified” their tractor designations to the point I can not figure it out. I really like my “29” and have not had the battery, gauge sending unit, switch, or fuse problems challenges linked to the TC line of tractors. I will add that to have my fuel gauge “reads” “Full” the tank must be really topped off. The gauge is accurate on the “Low” end. The only minor issue I had was a slightly loose hose clamp on the hydraulic radiator hose. The “29”’s weight, HP, hydraulics, and “footprint” meet my parameters of expectation and performance. I rarely wish that I had a larger tractor. I sometimes have to approach my tasks a little differently and take a little longer, but I get the job done. I can not comment on SS as I do not have it and I do not have a MMM due to ground clearance and the fact that I have a White 1650LT rider to mow the “lawn”. I have had no difficulties operating any of my attachments. I might add that I have taken out some serious vegetation with my MD rotary cutter. The price you mention seems “reasonable”, but I live in MA. Points: 0 | Thanks Jay! I am wondering if the TC34DA is a little bit too much tractor for what I actually need, making for an awkward mower. I know of 2 people who have DC33's with 72" MMM and they both love them. I'll keep you posted on what I find &/or decide.

Derek | So what kind of lawn do you have to mow?
Most tractors will NOT give you that putting green lawn...
but will give you a nice public course fairway look... | Paul in VT

Points: 0 | My lawn is certainly NOT golf course quality, but it is large and hilly. We built a house on top of a ridge...basically in a hayfield where the back yard is a hillside that goes down into our wooded area. We have about 27 acres, but I mow about 5-6. I also have some pasture and other areas that will require brush cutting. Additionally, we are in the process of re-building a horse barn on the original farm on the bottom of the hill. Therefore I'll need the FEL for the farm & to do minor landscaping around the house.

On certain other sites the "HP Junkie" membership would be screaming high 30's to low 40's HP tractors. I really get things done with my "29". I might also add that I got essentially the same things done with my old Ford 1100 (13/11+ HP), but tasks took forever. I wish I still had that 1100 in the woods . A mid frame tractor is much more manuverable than a large frame especially if you are going to be mucking out horse stalls some day. I mow approximately 7 - 8 A's of "recovered" old pasture with my "29", and occassionally the "lawn" with my rotary cutter, but with my weighted R-1's- it shows it has been on the lawn. The attachments are my attempts at conveying to you what I am cutting. The field is a lot more sloped than the pictures reveal. I did cut the field relatively "high" last year for habitat reasons. Jay one more time and I think it is coming soon!
