Default The weekend in review

Lots of changes happening this past week. The long cool spring made it's final, hopefully, exit and mother nature making up for lost time. Heater was turned up full force with predictions of mid-90's. Actually turned out closer to triple digit.

Have had plans for at least 9 mo's for a family campout at the coast and recent events had made it possible to actually get away from the house and go. Was predicting about 80 on the coast and that sounded better than almost 100. But as usual, there more to the story. Days started out nice, warming up fairly quick in the AM but come mid-afternoon, winds and back to the 60's. Sunday we woke up tp fog which not unusual on the coast and got up about 70 by the time it was read to heady for home.

Mother nature offered up some interesting things. Fri morning the beach was full of crab shells and some muscles shell as well. Sat morning the crab shells were gone and replaced by jelly fish. Sun morning the beach was fairly clear of marine life. There were birds galore. Hard to look toward the ocean without there being water fowl and pelicans.

With all the crab shells it appears to have been the time of yr that the crabs shed their shell to enable them to grow.

Here are a few pics of the Or/Wa coast at the mouth of the Columbia River.

A few of the thousands of water fowl seen.
One of the 2 nearby light houses.
The attack of the CRAB shells.

Food for thought: No matter how bad you think things are in your life, Remember, somewhere out there, there is a Mr. Pelosi

Practice makes perfect: After many decade of hard work and practice, it now takes almost no effort to get tired.

Here are a few more pics.

It's hard to figure out how the crabs work their way out of the old shell. I did have to put the cap on this one so it looked more normal.

One of 2 star fish that had washed up on the shore.

Had 3 kayakers making their way along the shore line taking advantage of the clam sea.

Here are the last few pics.

Here is a view from the cliff where the lighthouse is located. Below is the beach near the camp ground.

A picture of one of the light houses. First lit in 1890 and powered by 3 kerosene lamps. Lighthouse could be seen as far out as 19 mi.

Some of the many birds. The ones near the ocean are brown pelicans.

You have just reminded me with those great photos how badly I need a vacation. A vacation away from home for a change I might add.
