    Default Drill Baby Drill???

Nice graphic from the Calgary Herald showing the delicate balance between U.S. onshore and offshore oil production, one easily upset if BP/Deepwater turns into energy’s Bhopal/Three Mile Island...which appears to be more and more the case...

yeah it will be a mess and really bad timing which will setback our energy policy of drilling off-shore....I guess i really cant blame anybody for thinking that way, i suppose.....just handed them a major argument not to

So Paul, are you saying that because the estimated number deaths on the Oregon Trail, (historians say that there were so many deaths that a person would be buried every eight feet) AMERICANS should not have migrated west? Are you saying that because the Challenger blew up....we should quit exploring space? Are you saying that because men have been killed in coal mines, we should quit mining coal?

What we need to do is put the pedal to the metal, and DRILL FOR MORE OIL. What we need to do is throw the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT off of the 75% of the land they own out here in the west, and explore and mine all of the energy we can.

Will there be accidents? YOU BET!! But when we stop exploring and challenging ourselves then we become pointy headed corporate safety officers, who think it is their mission in life to remove all risk from life. Then we become wimpy girlie men and flip the middle finger to all those who stormed the beaches at Normandy.....with the whimpering cry of...it's too dangerous. What a pathetic thought.

Not sure what the real issue or point is/was, but having a situation such as whats happening in the Gulf never helps in bolstering the momentum of any energy policy.
Heck, I don't recall 3 mile island helping much with nuclear energy and expansion in more reactors. It got the one near me shut down.....

For all the going on we, as a country, really do have to at all energy alternatives. Sooner or later, fossil fuels will cease to be a viable energy source regardless if the industrialized world takes over the globe. When I am in my "Doomsday" mood, I sometimes think that future scientists (somewhere/sometime) will see our species as the cause for this series of global extinctions.
