It's in the isle with the transparent aluminum
Sorry, couldn't resist![]()
Forgive me for asking such a lame question, but again I find myself looking for a tractor grease brand/type that is not ink black and that will not make such an ungodly mess with the new (to me) canary yellow Yanmar mini-ex after I repaint it.
Previously, in another life, someone was smart enough to recommend a reddish tinted grease for use on my red Mahindra and Bradco 509 to keep the grease mess somewhat masked and under control... but now it would be best just to find a tractor grease that is as near to colorless as possible. Anyone know of such an animal???

p.s., I know this magical stuff exists because I put my finger in some the other day on a brand new 2008 Yanmar VIO35-5 that had just been delivered.-d
Me thinks Bill6 is rubbing off on ya. I don't believe there is such a thing. Just think wives would have nothing to complain about if the grease was colorless and they couldn't see it all over our clothes. Besides that "Honey I was working" has no proof without the grease stains on the clothes.![]()
Ed, I've spent at least 37 hours degreasing this damn Yanmar so it could be repainted and I still haven't gotten it all off. The good news is that it's ink black (like that cheap stuff I bought at TSC last year) so I can see it wherever it is. The bad news is that it's ink black and the more I try to clean it the worse it makes the ULDM look.
I am not Bill6 but I am fed up with this black stuff. When I saw that newly minted VIO35-5 with the clear grease, I knew I had to find out what it is and where I can get some.

The old Dougster™ managed to find exactly what he was looking for at TSC yesterday: colorless tractor grease! Actually found some nifty red stuff too which would have been great for the Mahindra... but I can only use one color grease at a time in the new cordless grease gun... and that "color" will now be "colorless"!
This super-premium colorless grease costs more than twice what the ink black stuff costs, but I feel it will be worth it. Of course, it make take years before all the old black stuff is pushed out... but ya gotta start somewhere!
