Default Driveway alarms; do they work?

Northern Tool has Chamberlain and Mighty Mule driveway alarm systems.

Chamberlain Wireless Motion Alert System, Model# CWA2000 | Motion Detection | Northern Tool + Equipment

Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway Alarm, Model FM231 | Motion Detection | Northern Tool + Equipment

Do either one of these work worth a darn? Are there other brands worth considering?

Or is this another good idea gone bad due to Chinese manufacturing?

I have an OPTEX wireless 1000 model RC-10U. I have used it for over 3 years and it does a very good job. I have it mounted on a fence post aimed at the drive way approx. 500 ft from the house. The only problem we have is the Deer sometimes set it off and a few times bees have set it off building a nest on the post under it. I change the battery in the remote end once a year when I do the smoke alarms. We find it very helpful just to let us know when company comes although since I have gotten my puppies (88 and 72 lb Labs) I find I really don't need the alarm like we once did.

Thanks for the reply. I'm finding out that there are a number of brands out there, and I'll look at the one you mentioned.

Here is my driveway alarm system. Works great Anything even gets close to the end of the driveway and the whole house knows about it.

I had a Brinkman(?). I always seemed to have problems with the storage batteries keeping their charge regardless of what sensitivity setting. I rely on my 90# female German Shepard and 90+# German Shepard/Saint Bernard mix male. They really do not like getting disturbed from their rest on the "forbidden" furniture or garden beds outside. My only problem with my home alarm and initial home defense setup is that the shepard has serious "issues" with the moon talkin' smack to her. It's both comedic and saddening to see how a grown dog can be so lunarly influenced.

I'm with Ed. Our alarm topped out at 150#. Her voice rings with authority and her coat being thick and long makes her look even better. But beneath the exterior, she's afraid of her shadow.

PODS driver showed up yesterday morning and I was fully aware within a couple seconds. These kinds of alarms don't require any electricity to operated.

I wish I could be so lucky. The little boy is a tad bit over 200#, and I think he is still growing. Just a little bit to heavy for a lap puppy, (which by the way is what he thinks he is!!!)

Here is a picture of the alarm system in energy saving SLEEP MODE.

I let my dogs take a look at the ol' boy (intraining). Their reaction: .............. "Lap wh*re" is probably a much better desriptor (The harder the truth; the truer the friend ).

Now as to total weight bearing loads?

Of two large proportionned wide bodies (1 - a reported +200# and the other- recent CIA estimates have yet to be confirmed by the rara.avisII satellite, but insiders imply "huge") on would be probably best described as a heavy duty load bearing "love seat"
