    Default Google Earth questions??

Are you guys using Google earth? I downloaded the new version, and it has not refreshed in years. They are still showing a house not too far from me, with vehicles in the driveway, that has not been lived in for years.

How do you refresh it? And also, all urban areas are blurry, cannot seem to clear them up. Checked my display settings, and they are good.

Any ideas, or a different one to use?
    Thanks,

    Will

You can't refresh it. The images you are seeing are the satellite images that are on the site. The only way to get a newer image is when google earth updates the image. Most of the images are several years old if you live in lower populated rural areas. Blurry images are ones that the satellite was a to to take a lower resolution picture of. Again the lower populated rural areas.

If you live in a densely populated area the pictures tend to only be a year or two old. I know this because of jobs I have done in Boston. The current image of one job I worked on is a year and a half old.

If ou want a real time image I suggest talking to Paul. He may be able to do something for you.

What Edster said.....They don't update certain areas very often unless there's dramatic change. The location I live in has changed so little over the years, here's the latest close-up photo of life in Mt Washington.

I just looked at Google earth to refresh my memory. If you look in the lower left corner of the image you will see the date of the image you are looking at.

When it's available, the "bird's eye" view is often amazing. I can see individual branches on my trees, and I can see my log splitter by the front yard wood pile, count the windows on each side of the house. The view is from 2006 by the woods clean up progress evident.

But then I'd have to kill him...
And the really good stuff is overseas anyways...

Tim, I have ''google earth'', and last night I did a search for ''Bing google earth'', and the link had ''google earth & Bing on one page side by side'' so you could see the difference between the both.

When I typed in my county and zoomed in, the ''Bing google earth'' wouldn't zoom in as far as the regular ''google earth', Bing just went to a blank page... How did you get it to zoom in that close ??

But in my area there is a lot of mountains, and it's not clear when you zoom in... The mountains could be the problem.

Here's the link I was looking at.

    Bing Maps & Google Maps

FWJ, You need to stay out of the yard!
