I thought it might be a tutorial on how to avoid the same pitfalls that got Tiger Woods in trouble......![]()
We have had a nice break in the weather, and its time to start sorting thru the logs - most times I have some help, but it was enjoyable being the only one. Once I got the rhythm going, great progress was made. I have to thank the L39 as the helper who gets the credit with the fast work, with moving things around and outta the way.....some of them logs were heavy, and up to 36" diameter....
enjoy!

I've been doing it alone since last Monday..... The only time I have help is when I start to haul the split wood up the hill to my ''open woodshed'', and then I get my 13 yo son to help.... Last year my FIL helped with a couple trees, but I would rather work alone!!!
Is this the load of wood that was delivered by that 10-wheeler ??
WOW...36'' diameter!!!.... I split a 25'' Maple Friday, and it was hard just to get it up to the log splitter.... I always use my splitter in ''vertical position'' and sit on a bucket.
I noticed your ''mechanical thumb''.... Looks that helps a lot for moving the wood around!!!... I started on building a thumb, but haven't finished it... This is the first year that I have took off my BH to work on firewood... The log hitch is working great!!!
Here's a picture of a set of logging tongs that are helping to move wood a lot faster.... I bought it at TSC Wednesday, and used them a lot yesterday on 3 Maples that I cut.

yes, this is from the drop off from the ten wheeler.....I have them drop off in other location spots, to be dealt with later....this is for my own use, plus it was in the way and needed to be processed, for the next dump....
Those thongs (tongs hehe) look handy and keeps the stuff off the ground, instead of muscling those rounds (the hardest part I would say -and makes you sore the next day)....
I wouldn't be able to do a damn thing without the thumb - thats my helper...no way I'm I moving logs that weigh 2k lbs - I use the FEL to move them, and cut them in half and the thumb does the rest.....clears the way to work in..

Mechanical thumb, you must manually deploy it (or attach it).
Hydraulic thumb has its own cylinder which retracts/deploys on demand as needed.
Use of the mechanical thumb means you must plan ahead, or at least take time to attach it or deploy it manually when it is needed.
Hydraulic thumb, when you need it, you just deploy it into position. When done, you retract it, all without leaving the seat.
