So I get up last night to see what the dogs are barking at. While on their barking fit, one of them must have turned up the edge of an area rug in the hallway.

(Imagine the sound of a 62 year old man slamming into a hardwood floor)

    Net result, bruised right shoulder.

After a half-hearted attempt to sleep (in minor pain) I head out to the shop this morning. Someone (of wifely persuasion) left an extention cord laying in the floor. (I have NO idea why) I pick up one end and start rolling it up. At that point I figure out the middle of the cord is wrapped around a 12' 2X4 that's leaning against the wall.

(Imagine the sound of a 12' 2X4 impacting the left temple of the SAME 62 year old man)

(Now, imagine the sound of a 62 year old 2X4 to the head old man slamming into the CONCRETE floor)

Bleeding from the temple, SAME shoulder bruised AGAIN, I walk back into the house. SAME wife (that left extention cord on floor) sees me bleeding and goes into the RN in the operating room mode.

Needless to say this has been a LONG day. Wife, 3 kids (and their mates) along with 5 grandkids now think I'm a danger to myself. (If they only knew.....)

I'm going to bed early tonight. Gonna HOPEFULLY wake up to a better day tomorrow.

I ain't doing so well today myself (a long story for another time)... but my daughter came down and rescued me.

Assuming I can make dinner without further incident or injury, I'll be doin' just fine!

Maybe the OSHA Cowboy strategy has some merit after all??
I've had some falls myself caused by stuff left out by elves and evil gremlins.

DEAR GOD ALMIGHTY FWJ!!!.... It's a good thing the wife is a nurse..... If I was bleeding like that, I would fall to the floor.

Hope your feeling better this mornin', and I hope your not bruised up too bad..... If I was you, I wouldn't go out in public, because people might think your wife beat you up.

Are you related to me ??

I get hurt just about everyday..... I once cut my fingers while sharpening my mower blades, and I was the only one home..... My wife & kids was at my mother-in-laws, and I called and told my wife to get home, and that I would be laying in the floor when she got here.

I was bleeding very bad, and about to pass out.... Not only did my wife come, but the whole family came to see if I was going to die off, brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws.

    Stay safe!!!

    .
I was always the guy who had to give the job safety presentations. All the years of working with power tools (saws, ect) farm equipment, ect, I NEVER got hurt. Before I'd do anything, I'd always look at things from a "how can things go wrong" perspective, then avoid those problems. That's what made yesterday such a hard pill to swallow.

The shoulder is a little touchy, but not bad. The "brain injury" (as my wife refers to it) is another story. The cut is more of a scrape. It's about 2" wide and about 3" long, starting about mid ear level on down my cheek. It is SORE. There's quite a bit of swelling too. I'm just glad it missed my eye (and glasses)

Leigh and the kids decided (w/o asking) that one of them needs to be with me all day. (oh joy) I love my kids, don't get me wrong, but I'd just as soon not make a huge commotion over this.

And, in the "when life hands you lemons, make lemonaide" tradition, while under the influence of a head injury, now would be an IDEAL time to do something irrational and unexpected. Hmmmmm. The Deere dealer up the hwy has a VERY nice used Dixie Chopper zero turn mower they just traded for......!!!!!!

He-hee. I think she's trying to take you out! Ahhh yes, must be the moon in a strange phase or something. I had an incident Sunday night. Can't comment on it until the police report comes out. All I can say right now is that girlfriends ex-husbands shouldn't try to hit current boyfriends with a pipe.

I guess the only significant issue there would be, are you the pipER or the pipEE?

    Oh Lordy!

Can we assume that the poor guy didn't know about your "recreational pastime"?

    Is he still alive???

Waiting for my lawyer to call me with confirmation that he received the police report. He told me not to say too much until I got the green light for him. However, I can say that he came at me, thought better when I told him to, "Make my day", and nobody got hurt.
He does know my hobby, I have invited him for free "private lessons."

I don't wanna hijack FWJ's thread, when I get the green light, I'll post a new thread with all the details.
